Time Management is KING
Time Is Nasty
One thing I'm good at is planning ahead and thinking of the endless possibilities each action can bring… but one thing I suck at is managing my time so I can actually deliver on all my responsibilities! And when I say responsibilities, I don’t just mean work, I mean everything. Cooking lunch, doing laundry, cleaning, the whole package.
For the past month, I’ve been working on improving my time management and it’s actually working. I switched from a more chill approach to a more strict one, and I can finally see the difference. I’m getting more done, and I have more free time. Crazy how time works!
My responsibilities
Not having a day job and working as a freelancer (or entrepreneur, but I don't like that word haha) definitely affects how I manage my time. But at the same time, it gives me the freedom to create my own schedule however I want.
Right now, my top priorities are:
Making @skatehive the best f*cking skateboarding app on the planet
Building @epirus.dao into a Greek web3 onboarding powerhouse
Delivering quality content on Hive
And on top of that, I’ve got regular life stuff: cooking, cleaning, dishes, laundry, all the house work. I could leave some chores for @illusivelf, but she’s working hard too and I don’t want her to come home and have more stuff to do.
While all that might sound manageable, for me it wasn’t. Sometimes it felt like an endless pit of responsibilities. I’d shovel stuff out of the pit, but it never ended.
Thankfully, after some reflection, guidance from friends and almighty internet advices, I found the secret "potion" that helps me get shit done and enjoy more free time.
How did I do it?
I just followed these 3 simple steps 👇
1) Schedule my day
I now plan my next day the night before. And I mean really plan it... what I have to do, when I’ll do it, how long each thing will take, when I’ll eat, when I’ll break... the works.
At first it felt overwhelming, but after a week I saw it actually works. Having a tight schedule helps me stay focused, and the slight pressure of sticking to it motivates me to perform better.
2) Not checking my phone while working
Holy shit. I had no idea how much time and focus I was wasting just by checking my phone. Seriously! It was A LOT.
I turned off all social media notifications and made a rule! NO PHONE UNTIL BREAK TIME! The result? I focus better, finish tasks faster, and feel less stressed.
3) Excercise early
Probably the best habit I’ve added. About 30 minutes after I wake up, I stretch, do some pushups, lift weights. Just 30 minutes each day and the effect is amazing!
I’ve got more energy, my brain’s sharper, and I feel powerful overall. This helps me stay on top of my schedule and boosts my confidence A LOT.
Bottom Line
TIME MANAGEMENT IS KING
If tasks that should be doable start to feel overwhelming, you’re probably doing something wrong. Everyone has different mental and physical limits, but let’s be real! Most of us (myself included) haven’t even come close to those limits. We think we have, but nah... we’re just managing our time badly.
If you want to succeed in this shitty world we live in, you need to stop wasting time bullshitting around and start spending your energy on what actually matters.
Because at the end of the day, everyone wants more free time. But the day only has 24 hours. Make sure you spend them wisely.
