In my travel across the US Southwest, I have reached Death Valley, California. It's a surprisingly diverse National Park, going far beyond the popular perception of a dried salt lake. I had really hard time picking a photo for the contest (see the diversity in my post linked below). At the end, I selected one that shows both popular notion but also hints there are more diverse landscapes that a salty badland.
