Have you ever seen this bird? 😯 At first I thought it was a duck, but it´s not!

Look at their big feet. Seems like those funny bird legs are very good for swimming!

But these birds can also look majestic.

But... if they're not exactly ducks, what kind of birds are they then?

The Eurasian coot, also known as the common coot or Australian coot, is a member of the rail and crake bird family, the Rallidae. It is found in Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and parts of North Africa. It has a slaty-black body, a glossy black head and a white bill with a white frontal shield. The sexes are similar in appearance.

According to the internet, the common coot is the type species of the genus Fulica, which belongs to the family Rallidae, a family of medium-sized ducks and semi-aquatic birds. So it seems they are indeed related to ducks!
