World Bicycle Day
Greetings 🙌
June 3rd came, and I didn't know what day it was until later in the day when I was listening to a radio program and heard it was WORLD BICYCLE DAY. I was wowed because I never knew there was a day dedicated to celebrating cycling. It seems every single act of humans has a day for celebration. I'm sure there's a day dedicated to writing too. I'm going to do some research so that when that day comes, I can write 100 articles. 😂
During the radio program, a lot was said, and what shocked me most was how we've totally abandoned bicycle riding. I can't help but imagine how it was in my early days of life when bicycles were our main means of transportation. We would go to the farm with them, go to rivers with them, and even go to school with them because our schools were far from home. In fact, taking a bicycle to school made us look like rich people, with the local olden days' bicycles.
Can't we go back to cycling?
Like I said, bicycle riding has really been pushed towards extinction in my part of the world. Only a few people are seen riding bicycles, and they are mainly children. Most of the bicycles are small and somewhat automated, which they use for playing or going to school. You'll hardly see an adult riding a bicycle to work or using it as a replacement for motorbikes.
Considering its advantages, the cost of transportation is extremely high now, and with bicycles, we could reduce all that and save money. These days, I seldom go out because of transportation fares. If I owned a bicycle or if bicycles were very common, I would find it easy to tour anywhere I want to visit without worrying about paying high transportation fares.
Some days back, some church friends and I were discussing using bicycles to go to work because the daily cost of transport is high. One of us, a lady, chipped in and said riding a bicycle is stressful. I laughed out loud and simply told her that she was saying that because she doesn't know how to ride a bicycle. That's where people are getting it wrong.
Although you may sweat in the process of riding a bicycle, it's very enjoyable. Back in the days when we used bicycles for farming and school, we fought to be the one to ride, especially when we were many and some needed to be carried on the carriage. The only part that's a bit hard is the starting stage where you need to apply a little pressure to get it moving. Once it's moving, it becomes enjoyable because it runs with just a little pressure from pedaling.
In all these, it's the easiest means of exercise too. Instead of registering at a gym with a high fee, it's better to get used to bicycling and burn those fats with ease and without paying anybody, thus saving money for yourself.
There are a whole lot of benefits to using bicycles that I can't mention all, but the truth is that if we all go back to bicycles and stop looking at them as things of the past, the world is surely going to take a new shape.
Especially with the reduction of accidents on the road within the city, noise pollution, and carbon emissions will be drastically reduced.
It's going to make life just too simple again. There will be no need to buy the recently high-cost oil and petrol.
Thanks for reading.

Lol😂
You're a bicycle person, so I'm not surprised.
Do you ride bicycle everyday??
No, not every day. I cycle to work 2 or 3 days a week and try to go for a ride in the weekend too.
Okayy.
Your country must be a sweet one for someone to use bicycle to work.
Yes, it's very attractive to go by bike.
