This is not life!

Mehn, I will not lie, I have been struggling very badly with this lifestyle of balancing work with personal life.

On the day of writing this, it was very early on a Sunday morning when I woke up to prepare for church. I had planned to follow a neighbour to visit the stadium to watch a live football match since it is the only day I have time during the week. But with the heaviness I woke up with in my body, I already knew that the idea of going to the stadium was cancelled because mehnnnnnn, I need maximum rest through sleeping and eating as I prepare for the following day of work.

I have thought about it many times, is this how my life is going to continue?

No space from Monday to Saturday for social life except at night, and hey, whenever it is night time, the body becomes weak and is always calling for bed. I do not know how people have been coping with this lifestyle of Monday to Saturday work, and it looks easy on them as if it is the best lifestyle.

My situation is that it is not like I am heavily busy all the days of the week. No, there are some days that I do not do reasonable work, but the problem is that I cannot leave the workspace in order not to be unavailable when clients come knocking. You see, so I get to be around from the beginning to the end of the week without space for social life. The only thing I do that makes me feel like a social human is being welcoming and accommodating to people in the area. Bad for me, I do not like going to people’s shops or offices to gist. Rather, anytime they come to mine, I always leave my phone aside while I relate with them.

My plans to tackle this:

My target is to get a staff who will give me the freedom to leave the office comfortably once in a while. But this will not come easily because getting a staff means a lot, and I am not even referring to the salary alone. There is a lot to be considered.

Separating my home from the workplace: I know this has been the major reason the situation has been like this. My home is on the same block as the workspace, so I get people coming to my house directly, even at night and on Sundays too. This has been advantageous, no doubt, but I want it to stop. Let me have some good space.

Thanks for reading.

Huhm, your situation is one I can very well relate with, I have a friend who's currently in that situation too. It got to a point that he began coming to sleep at my place when I was still around, just so to have some time for himself.

I pray you find a way around it, and if possible get a new place to stay, might be close to your work place though. It's advantageous like you said, but remember that health is the most important and this body needs good rest.

Thanks for sharing.
