The beginning of KINGDOM series
There was chronic hunger in the land, no food to eat, and everyone was desperate to feed on anything — I mean anything — just to survive.Then came their leader, who travelled down to the village to bury his son who had just died on their way back. The corpse was still fresh, and when the household saw it, they decided to feast on it instead of wasting it by burying it in the ground to decay. The meat was truly a cure for hunger that day. For a long time, they had not eaten meat.
They were not aware of the disease that killed the boy they feasted on. The disease was deadly; it causes someone to die and then turn into a zombie. That was their case — everyone who ate the meat turned into a zombie and attacked everyone in the village who did not eat the meat.
Among all the zombie movies I have watched, this Korean zombie series titled KINGDOM has the most realistic genesis of a zombie infection. Also, this series made me think differently about Koreans and cannibalism.
Sorry to say, there are still some places on planet Earth that feast on human meat. I grew up knowing of a particular state in my country that did that, but that has been trashed out. Maybe Korea once had that too, for it to be featured in the series.
It pains me a lot that this series ended halfway (season 2), and according to reports, there is never going to be a season 3 where the root cause of the disease was supposed to be traced.
