Stay Original, Stay Consistent

Most of us were not opportune to be well-grounded when we started our Hive journey, hence the loads of discouragement and setbacks we experienced at the beginning. Back then, when I joined, I remember getting my articles muted when I entered a contest I wasn't qualified for. I also saw my articles muted when I wrote off-topic content in some communities. I know those pains, and that's why I make sure to guide, to the best of my understanding, any newbie I'm onboarding.

The following are the pieces of advice I would give to a newbie:

Stay Original:

Personally, I frown heavily at articles that seem to be written with AI. I dislike reading something that sounds too computerized, and I'm sure many others on this platform feel the same way—except for those who don't actually read the articles and just vote randomly. Hive is not a place for AI-generated articles or plagiarism. It’s really unpleasant to come across such content. A newbie should understand that one of the core values keeping this platform strong and clean is our stand against AI-generated articles. Someone might decide never to vote you again if you're found copying articles from elsewhere.

The most recent newbie I onboarded, when I asked him to draft his introduction article, came back shortly and told me he was done. I was surprised at how fast he finished it. Then he told me he used AI to make it faster. You needed to see how I sent him back to redo everything manually—and that actually took him a few days to complete. Lol.

Consistency and Engagement:

While some people are lucky to start getting votes from their very first post, others have to stay consistent for a good period before they start getting votes. This is a natural occurrence on this platform because some people only get noticed through their consistency. I would encourage any newbie to be consistent in making posts and also to engage with others. These are the selling points. There's no way a newbie would keep posting consistently and engaging for a month without gaining some footing on this platform—it’s almost impossible. Yes, it’s almost impossible.

I have introduced a lot of people to Hive. Some of them didn’t take it seriously because things didn’t go as expected in the beginning, so they gave up. But some of them stayed committed, followed all my not-so-reasonable advice, and today, they are doing very well.

These are just my basic pieces of advice that a newbie should take to heart in the early stage as they grow and spread their wings into many other aspects of the Blockchain that will help them develop. For now, these basics are the starting point to help them keep grinding.

Thanks for reading.
