Remove money and see what's left
Greetings!
The song mentioned above was released in 2008 by a veteran Nollywood actor, Nkem Owoh, popularly known as Osuofia. I was quite aware when it was released, and it gave us a lot of laughs and a sweet story back then.
For the sake of non-Nigerians reading this, here’s a summary:
The man, the songwriter, had a girlfriend named Susana. This lady was very fortunate to be with him when he was rich, swimming in money. He trained her in school, trained her siblings in school as well, and bought a lot of gifts for her parents. They assured him that he would marry Susana. After some time, the man went broke, and just as the world is, Susana backed off, and her parents supported her decision. That's common, right? It's very common in my part of the world.
So, the song is all about the man lamenting and regretting all he did. He goes on to mention all he did for Susana and her parents, but Susana wasn't listening. She had already found someone else, someone more handsome than the man. Oh, at first, she didn't love him because he was handsome; it was the money that made her stay, and when the money left, the affection disappeared with it.
Many times, we see this in movies or read stories and laugh at the act and storyline. We don't think it happens in real life because we believe a man should be wise enough not to fall victim to such situations. Hold on, don't they say 'love is blind'? It's obvious this is the peak of the blindness that love causes.
I have seen this practically played out in real life. There was this guy that was having an affection with a lady in university. They had made plans to marry, and so, the guy was footing all the bills, especially providing for her daily upkeep. Along the line, an issue occurred, and before the guy could grasp what was happening, the girl got married to someone else.
Should we blame the guy, right? Well, he knew the risk he was taking, but he was totally blinded by love, and it dealt with him so badly. At first, he pretended as if the heartbreak was not hurtful, but when he started analyzing all he did for her, the hurt was immeasurable.
This kind of thing is a trend in Africa, especially in Nigeria. It's never advisable to train a girl you're hoping to marry in school or be her everything while hoping for marriage. It's not like I'm saying bad things about ladies, but they just can't be predictable. They could be moved by anything and get 'snatched' even when their current man is doing everything for them.
As for me, it can't happen to me. I can't sponsor a girl in school with the intention to marry her. No way! Instead, I would prefer to marry her first while she continues her education. I know there are other guys that have a different opinion on this, and I'll always applaud them.
Thanks for reading.

Hmmm, na true talk be this o but can you blame anyone other than the two people in love?
I'm certain the guy would have seen some red flags but opted to be blind to them, believing in a promise of marriage all for his ego.
I'm not trying to support the wicked ladies who do this to men that go all out for them but I'm of the opinion that the guy should have paid more attention to the relationship, to notice anything amiss.
Most men are taking the same stand as you, train the girl only when she's already married to the man and even given birth to at least a child. Though this does not stop some women from abandoning their marriage but it can reduce such sad stories and heartbreaks.
By the way, kingsley, you are already stingy so any girl that puts hope on you to train her in school is on a long thing 😁 (just kidding)
Lol! The story is quite interesting.
Men has done same to their women so I believe it's based on individuality not gender.
For me, don't do anything for someone with big hopes, do it out of charity or the willingness to help the person you love.
Happy weekend 🎉
I knew you were going to come from this angle😂.
Well, no lies, women have done for guys too but comparing the both, you know what's up.
Yeah, do it with love and do not expect anything in return.
Thank You dear
It happens in real life, some people are in a relationship because of money when the money is no more you will see who they really are, their true colors will show.

This happens quite a lot in this country of ours and the result is always the same. Only but a few exceptions.
The possibility of training a girl in school and getting married to her later on, is low. It's better to get married while she continues her education inside the marriage.

Yeah, the possibility is very low and people, blinded by love are still practicing it😂
