Problems during onboarding an aunt & lost Keys

Greetings everyone,

I don't know if you've noticed, guiding a newbie to register an account on the blockchain has been so difficult since late last year (that was actually the time I noticed). This is due to the fact that most of the easiest ways to create accounts, such as Hiveonboard, were suspended. There are other channels for creating accounts, but they're not known by many people.

Late last year, after tutoring an aunt to get to know the basics of Hive, she finally agreed to proceed with her journey. That was when we got ready to register. I sent her all the various links I knew, but none of them worked. I thought maybe she didn't do it well, so I tried to register on my phone, but none of them worked either. The one that seemed a little simpler rejected my phone's IP, and I was told that my phone's IP had already been used.

I went to one of the Discord channels of the community I belong to and made a request for account creation. A guy came out and helped me. He did it with ease and gave me the details of the account, which I forwarded straight to my downline for her to register. Because it's sensitive, I didn't bother to save the account. I explained to her to save the KEYS somewhere because once it's lost, it means everything is gone. She nodded in affirmation.

She refused to write the introductory article;

After she logged in, I gave her clues on how to draft an introductory article because she's actually new to blogging. She responded very well and promised me to get the draft ready within 24 hours.
Guess what? The 24 hours lasted for 3 months.
She's someone I see every week, and each time I see her, I remind her about the introduction article, and we laugh over it.

She didn't save the keys;

Today, being 18th February 2024, I met her in church, and along the line, we got talking about Hive, and she was surprised when I told her that I'm still writing and also earning well. That really piqued her interest because the rate of the dollar is very high in our fiat, and converting my earnings to fiat is a big money. She readjusted and said I should guide her because she want to start fully.

I promised her that I will chat with her when we get home because we were in church.

This evening, I chatted with her, told her what to do, and when I told her to login, she said she doesn't know where she kept her keys...she lost them.

"Haaaa! You lost them? I told you how important that is." I sent her a voicenote, and she responded with pleas

I didn't know whether I deleted the chat I had with the guy that created the account, so I logged into Discord hoping to see the details, and luckily, they were there, and I sighed a big relief.

Imagine if the chats were cleared off. It would have been a very difficult task to get the keys.

When I got the account, I had to save it on my drive and gave it to her to save too. I know she'll still not save it. Lol 😅

As for now, we are still at the point of drafting the introductory article, and I don't know when she'll be done with it, maybe not until next two months 😅

When she's finally here, I'll tour her around.

Thank you for reading.

Lol, that's how it actually is o. So far I have onboarded two persons and they are not as keen on writing as I would have hoped. I let them be cos even for me, it's a determination. If you are not determined them hive is not for you.

It's very difficult to motivate a non writing person to keep writing especially if the pay has not been coming as expected

(Edited)

These are things that happen along the way people think this is like web 2.0 they send a recovery message and presto uya the key is regenerated. I hope you will keep us posted when you create your presentation.

Hahaha🤣
When it comes to password, seedphrase or keys keeping in web3 like this, it's absolutely on the owners hand.

Yeah, once she come onboard with her introduction article, I'll surely take her around to salute everyone. Lol🤣

Thank you so much
