Preference in reading books

The last time I read books was four years ago, and it was a memorable moment because I was lured back into my old pattern of reading books—hardcopy books.
It was during my NYSC days, and the pastor in our church, due to our closeness, decided to feed me with books from his library.

"Sir, please recommend the books so I can get them online," I pleaded when he kept forgetting the books he had arranged to give me to read.

"How do you guys cope with reading books on your phone? I feel I will not get the message," He laughably said.

My pastor then wasn’t the phone type, as I had seen him countless times struggling with some basics on his Tecno phone.

“Haaaa! Reading eBooks is far better oooh! With that, I can read absolutely anywhere without being noticed that I'm reading a book—unlike the way people carry books up and down,” I said, and he chuckled.

Well, he finally brought the hardcopy books—spiritual/religious books—and I must say, I got fond of the content. But something happened one day.

Because I had become fond of the book, and back then I was so busy due to a particular leadership post I was given, I could hardly settle down to concentrate on something. So, I was practically carrying the particular book I was reading up and down so I could read anytime I had a chance, just as I usually did while reading eBooks. On one of those days of carrying the book around, I was in the midst of church friends, and the place where I wanted to sit was dusty. So, I placed the book down so I could sit on it, and immediately I did that, one of my friends screamed and told me to get up because I wasn’t supposed to be sitting on a spiritual book. I was so shocked at how superstitious he was—or isn't that being superstitious or just too religious? Lol.
After many talks from him, I had to get up, dust off the book, and sit on the dusty spot instead, just to keep the book clean.

I must say, reading the hardcopy book felt good and gave me a warm feel of my old days of reading books. But I also saw how inconvenient reading hardcopy books can be. The carrying around was a big task, and each time I kept wishing I was reading from my phone instead.
Ohhh! It's funny how I didn’t bother to go and search for the books online to get them, so I could stop carrying the hard copies here and there.

I prefer eBooks, and nothing can change that!

It’s been a long time since I settled down to read books, and if I’m going to return to that today, it must surely be eBooks or nothing.

Thanks for reading.

This is my entry to Digi-prompts of the week.

Ebooks are easier and not bulky to carry around unlike hardcopy books but there are some books that you can't just help but to have it in both formats.
