Not The Girl

Last week, something led me to the song "Not the Girl" by Darey, and it was all wow listening to this beautiful piece of art released many years ago. I kept wondering why the song didn't make big waves because it is of a very high standard in terms of composition and good lyrics. Funny enough, as good as the song is, it’s yet to hit 1 million views on YouTube.

I'm tempted to say what led me to the song...

So, it was a friend — a very good one that I’ve known for over the years — and some days back, I found out that we haven't really quarreled. Yeah, not even a bit of misunderstanding, and it was surprising because friends do have misunderstandings once in a while. Although, we've been very careful because we are from completely different backgrounds.

Oh! Let me stop here before I’m called to the panel of judgement. Lol.

Dear user, if you come across this, I wanted to write about the sweet side of it, but I decided to stop because it could be sour on your end, considering the differences in our personalities.

It feels like I just ended up writing something unrelatable, right? That's fine because I wanted it to look that way.

A Nigerian who hasn't heard of this song must be very new to music. It’s a classic song, and I’m using it as my first entry in my #ttt collection.

Have you heard of the Kelebu dance by Rema?

In this modern era of social media, a low-rated song can just blow up due to the popularity of the artiste and the influence of social media. Rema recently released a song and attached a $10k prize for anyone who could come up with a fitting dance to the song, and this has made the song go excessively viral — because $10k in my part of the world is not small money.

I have seen crazy videos of people, and those videos have once again authenticated the fact that people can do anything — I mean, absolutely anything — for money.

Btw, I didn't say Kelebu Dance is low rated. It took him good effort to come up with that, so I'm not disregarding that.

Friday Night by Nasboi

For one thing, Nasboi — anytime he releases a song — makes sure everyone in the internet space knows about it through his organic means of publicity. Some years back, when he ventured into the music industry, AMC awarded him as the Best Publicity Actor in Africa, and that’s very true.

He recently released a song, Friday Night, and he pushed the publicity rate to 100% as usual — with his skit-making, and reaching out to all types of people.

The video was released some days ago, and guess what? Osimhen was featured in the video, and that’s the highest point of it all.

Thanks for reading
