My art skill is nowhere to be found
My Dad! A Very dramatic someone!
There was a day one of our extended family members, in fact, from my maternal side, came to our house. The man is famous; he acts in movies and has rolled with some of the top Nollywood stars. He also has good records in the Government House as well.
"Kingsley!!!"
My dad screamed my name from the parlour where they were seated. My dad only calls me by my English name when he wants to show off his son.
I ran to the parlour, greeted them, and my dad instructed me to go and bring my long drawing books where I draw things. The book was always handy in the corner where I kept my school materials. I reached out and brought it out. My dad collected it and began to show the man how good I was at drawing. The man was amazed. I was seeing his reactions and hearing their conversation from outside. My dad’s intention was to make the man introduce my art to the world.
Sigh🗣️💨!
Reminiscing about all these and knowing that I cannot even draw again makes me feel amused and strange. Where did the drawing ability go?
If I can remember clearly, the last time I got serious with drawing was in secondary school. But around the period when I was battling with admission failure into higher institutions, my mind and my entire body system shifted to a more important thing, which was getting admitted. That was a big priority for me at that time.
After that, I got admitted, and my course was a very difficult one, which made me never think of going into drawing again. Even during my school days, life was being life with all its difficulties, and that made things even more serious, with my mind not thinking of returning to drawing again.
Although they say we create time for what we love or what we have passion for, I do not know how it happened that life occurrences put that passion into hiding.
I should have made moves to digitise the art skill because that is what is trending and selling more. But the time to settle down and learn the digital skill has not been there because life activities are too much.
Sometime last year, I came across a post that required a sketch. I just needed to try and see if the art skill was still there. I picked up a paper and a pen (biro...uncleanable pen) and made a funny sketch of people on a dinner date.

Thanks for reading.

There was no time? When I hear something like this, I just ask people “what do you mean there was no time?” Especially knowing that it was going to make you a lot of money.
I hope you'll one day be able to reignite that art skil, you just need to find time out of the no time to do what would help you greatly in many ways.
