It was a miracle of rice
Greetings everyone!
The recently concluded festive season, or should I say, the fading-away festive season, was a nice one for me, even though it didn't go as planned. Initially, my biggest plan was to have a nice time with family at home, but it turned out the opposite. I couldn't travel neither did I have any plans for it—no single plan, not even a plan to boil a pot of rice to honor the tradition of marathon cooking and eating.
However, things turned out in a very unexpected way, and that's what I want to share in this article.
We shared rice in church:
As far as I can remember, the only time I took rice home from the church I fellowship in the city was when I was schooling there, and it was just a shallow tip.
This last festive season, I got a call from the leader of my unit to inform the unit members that we had a big bag of rice to share the following Sunday, and only the available ones would have a share of it.
Wow!
The city is majorly populated by non-indigenes, and at that moment, a lot of people had traveled home. So, imagine five or six of us sharing a bag of rice 😅.
I posted the info in our group chat, sent SMS to those that are not on the group. A lot of talks ensued as "it's not good to share only with those available."
The Sunday came, and to my greatest surprise, we had a full house. All the travelers returned back to the city on the Saturday night of that Sunday. Rice is costly, you know, so don't blame us lol 😅.
Actually, it was fun and a blessing to share the rice amongst us, even though it was a little. We hadn't had it for a long period, so it's a big blessing to partake in.
It didn't end here:
The following day, my boss's wife came with a nylon containing rice too. It was as if the earth and heaven teamed up to baptize me with rice. I was so thankful to them.
After that, I brought out the two nylons containing the rice (the one from church and from my boss). I tied them neatly and placed them at a corner. I wasn't ready to cook; I mean, cook Christmas food.
The most surprising happened:
Between Christmas and the New Year period, I decided to boil some rice because I was tired of eating swallow. I did that, and after eating, I noticed that where I collected the rice was not from the two I had shifted to a corner. It was another nylon entirely.
"Where could this come from?" I pondered tirelessly and concluded that it could be that my immediate younger brother living with me brought some rice that day because he returned from a trip that day.
He came back, I asked him if he brought any rice, and he said no.
Till today, I don't know how the rice came about. Miracle rice!
Till today, I'm still feeling the impact of the galore of rice gifting plus the miracle rice.
Maybe I will start buying rice in the middle of NEXT year. Lol😅
