It's just FAVOUR at work
Greetings everyone and Happy Easter Celebration!
I can remember vividly, it was December of the year before last when I travelled home for a wedding duty of a friend. I was actually the best man at the wedding, and after dressing up that Saturday morning, I was to transport myself from my house to the hotel where they lodged. I did not spend the night at the hotel with them; I preferred to stay in my family house to have a feel of family.
So that morning, after I had dressed up, I walked down the road to take a bike, and when I was finding it difficult to get one, a man in his 50s or thereabout stopped on his bike and told me to hop on. I knew he was not into the commercial transportation business, so I stylishly told him I was actually waiting for a bike to take me to a place and that I would pay the rider. The man said I should enter, and that he was going to take me there free of charge. I was surprised, and yet a part of me was not surprised because I get that kind of help a lot. While we were talking on the bike, he was saying some nice things about me—how he got to know me and other things—which sparked up some nice feelings within me.
I have this privilege of getting help on occasions I never expected—both from people I know, people who know me and I do not know when, and people we have just come in contact with for the first time. The example of the bike man giving me a free ride is just a tip of the iceberg; I have received a lot of help that came in very strange ways, and it is actually a privilege and an advantage too.
I remember when it was time for project and presentations in my final year. I got favoured a lot by the supervisors and the presentation judges. Ninety percent of them were church members, and because I am known as an usher, I got ticked in to skip a lot of processes that others went through, and I got good scores in my project course. That's favour!
At the initial stage, when I noticed that I was getting favoured—especially when it came to finances—I concluded that maybe I looked poor, and that was why people just helped me out for no clear reason. But that is not it. It is purely favour, and there is no other explanation for it.
Thanks for reading.
