Internet data subscription in early 2,000

Greetings everyone ๐Ÿ™Œ
Have lots of fun this weekend!

I can't precisely remember the year I got my first phone, a totally used phone (supposed to be fairly used) that I was convinced to buy because I was so desperate to join the gang of those using phones and also, to make noise playing my own music. It was a very small Sony Ericsson phone which I bought for around 5,000 naira. During those days, there was nothing like a lack of data because anytime I recharged my phone number, say with just 100 naira, 10 megabytes would come with it as a recharge bonus, and with that, I could surf the internet any way I liked until I made the next recharge again. And by chance it finished and I wanted to buy a data subscription, I would sacrificially use the 100 naira in the account to get 10 megabytes again, and it would last me until eternity.

Back then, 2go was always on, we never left a very popular site called waptrick.com just to search for music to download, and also, we had other chatting sites where we chatted with foreigners.
Just 10 MB was enough to do all that and span all through one or two weeks. Back then, we were downloading complete tracks of a song with just 400 KB, maximum is 1 MB if the song was too long.

BUT WHAT DO WE HAVE NOW??
In this era, 10 GB can barely last for a week and we are spending a lot to purchase these data subscriptions... and it's very normal to us.๐Ÿฅน

CAN WE GO BACK TO THOSE DAYS...

I really wish it were possible to go back to those old sweet days when 10 MB was just all we needed to surf the internet and no need to worry much about data subscriptions.
For now, after food, the next thing that's eating up my money greatly is data subscriptions and I will be glad if we could have back the olden days... with that, I can save all this money I'm spending on data subscriptions and use it to build a house. Lol

I know it's not possible because things have changed greatly compared to what we had in those days. A typical example is the smartphones we have today. Phones of those days were modded on 2G networks which were highly compatible. With this, data consumption was very low due to low speed. But the phones we have now have moved far away from this 2G network; now we have 5G. Take a look at the space between 2G and 5G, it's very far away... this consumes data due to the high speed of the internet.

Most smartphones still have the option for 2G network in the internet connection settings but once we select that, opening a webpage will take hours, if not days or weeks.

The most funny thing about this rate of data consumption is that we are just okay with it and applauding the telecommunications companies for bringing a very fast network which is good though but it's killing us.

Maybe I'm thinking weirdly, I think there's a way for the telecommunications and phone companies to work it out to make modern-day phones that are compatible with a low-budget network like 2G and still make it usable with ease.

Bringing back this will make life a bit easier compared to what we are spending now on data.

Thanks for reading

Seriously, I remember that too, then one could use 100mb for weeks. I wish same for real. Data subscription this period isn't funny at all. I just guess the kind of phones we make us of these days is also contributing to the daily data consumption. All those background running apps, updating of apps but the network companies are still the major cause of the quick running down of data.

Those days were golden.
The thing is, technology is improving a lot and the new findings come with huge prices/specs.
It's just the way phones of these days are costlier to that of 2,000 years ago.

Many people love it when the speed of their internet connection is at 5mb/sec and that's where the sucking of data lies.
The apps? Ofcourse, that's another point.
Just like now, my phone needs update and I'm going to use a whole 4gb to do that.

God abeg ๐Ÿ˜…

Thank you for stopping by

Hahahahahaha. 4gb, that's huge. You actually hit the point. The advancement in technology is one of the major contribution to the whole changes

Hahaha, I knew your approach was going to be unique as always. Well you've said the truth, the part that we still don't care as we should us the most alarming part ๐Ÿ˜….

Now we get data at a very huge amount and it even comes first before food for some of us ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ.

The last part though.
Someone like me, many times put data ahead of food. Because no matter what, food will be coughed out at the end of the day ๐Ÿ˜…

Thank you dear.

It's not funny at all.
And the worst thing is that, the more we go, the more the rate increases.
Imagine if 10G launches๐Ÿ˜ญ

Thank you.
