Incase you die, does anyone have access to your hive wallet?

Greetings everyone!

Maybe it was a dream last night,
Maybe it's a warning that something bad is going to happen,
I don't know...
I couldn't remember what led me to first consider a scenario upon waking up this morning, where a Hive member passes away and none of their family members can access the account. That means the money is gone, right?

Sigh deeply!🗣️💨

Waking up with that thought, my mind raced to see if by any means any of my siblings have access to my account, and I found out that none of them do. In fact, it's only my immediate younger brother who knows about this site(Hive) in particular; he once created an account after much persuasion by me, but he left it because he's not the writing type.
Currently, I have up to 1 million naira in my account summary in my wallet, which is a substantial amount of money. (Yes, it's a significant amount even though it can't buy a house; at least it can buy a plot of land). If anything were to happen to me today, everything would be gone, and there would be no one to withdraw this money.🙆‍♂️🙆‍♂️

Oh yeah, during the days I joined the Newbies Initiative program in the Hive Learners community, we were taught how to secure our accounts, which I know very well, and the one which is supposed to be the safest is somehow risky, which is letting someone (maybe someone you trust) have access to the account. Like I said, it's very easy and recommendable, but we know how money has great influence. The person having access to our account could wake up one day and decide to withdraw a little amount to sort out their bills, and there's nothing we can do; we can only shout and probably get them off the account. But to them, it's very right to eat from the account; after all, they're standing as security for the account. Lolz 😅

The easiest way I've thought of safeguarding this wallet is having someone in the system too, like those people who have their siblings, spouses, or parents blogging alongside them. Even though they don't have access to the account, at least they know that their relative has some money in the wallet, and they can easily write to the account placed as the RECOVERY ACCOUNT to make a way for it. Although this process is not suitable for lost keys, in some ways, it could still be helpful.

This issue is not only for the Hive wallet; most of us have a huge amount of money in different wallets and exchanges, and no one, I mean absolutely no one, has access to them... in case death occurs suddenly to the owner.

Mind you, the crypto world is not like the local bank where family members can easily write to the bank branch and get access to the account; crypto is totally opposite. This is where the local bank has an advantage over crypto wallets.

Why did I bring up such a topic today? It's not like I'm thinking about death or maybe I'm in a sickbed; no. It's just a reminder that you should let your relative, a trusted one, have access to your accounts.

If I'm you consider me as your friend, get me into your account. Thank you.😅

Thanks for reading.

I decided to make it a rant😎

I guess the future is unpredictable. Giving access to somebody close is a good idea.

It’s important to have the process in place for a loved one to know what to do if we were to untimely find ourselves no longer alive. I need to revisit mine and make sure the information is up to date, that’s also an important piece!

Yeah, let them know, so all the money we've been working hard for don't go useless when death happens untimely 🥹

Thank you for stopping by

Yeah.
We don't talk about it often but it's a reality. I'm sure many people have died with their keys buried to the grave. All the money gone💔

Thank you stopping by.
