Hoarding at its peak
Greetings!
So, I have this lady, who should be around 23 to 25 years old, she has a bay of 5years, who gave me her shoes to wash around mid-year of last year. The shoes here that I mean are not just two or three pairs, no, it's 90% of her entire shoes according to her, and they're 22 in total. These shoes have been in my custody since that July until this very day, and it surprises me a lot.
I'm into laundry which makes me get a lot of loads in my space, so I make sure I get these stuffs properly arranged to make the space not to appear so full because it suffers my eyes to see my space full loads.
Each time I come across where I keep the shoes, one question that keeps popping into my mind is, "How is she managing to use them all?"
I asked her the same question the day she brought the shoes because not all of them were looking new, and also, some of them are old-fashioned. I didn't bother much about the old-fashioned ones because ladies have a very wide sense of fashion.
"I use them ooo! But not all of them. Like this, this, and this, I haven't used them for up to 5 years now." She pointed at some of them that were looking a bit new, which shows they haven't really been used.
"If you're not using them, why can't you give them out, maybe to your friends? Because I know your baby is just a baby and can't wear these or don't you feel somehow seeing your room full of things you're not using?" I knew she’s a hoarder, but I still went ahead and asked her, expecting to hear different reasons. But no, she gave me the very common reply, "Please, I like having options always and I know I will use them one day."
Like I said, the shoes have been in my custody for almost a year, and this lady has been less concerned which sometimes get feeling headache anything my eyes sight the place I placed them.
Although she hasn't paid, which I think is the reason she hasn't come to pick them up, it's very clear that she isn't using any of them, which means she has other ones she's been using. I became very curious one day and got to their shop (her mom owns a restaurant). I jokingly asked her if she dashed me the shoes, and she joked that if I could wear them, I should go ahead and use them, but I should wash them back after usage. Lol.
She told me that the rooms in their house are undergoing renovations, that's why she decided to keep the shoes with me, and when the house is set, she would come and pick them. I sighed and remained speechless. Renovation for almost a year, and in all that time, she hadn't come to pick even one or two pairs for usage....which means the shoes are useless to her
It baffled me a lot. Although I've seen hoarders, who are mostly focused on clothes, this hoarding of shoes is something I keep wondering about. How can such people still exist? I tried to figure out why she can't let go of those shoes by giving them away, but I couldn't come to a conclusion. Maybe she's keeping them for her 5-year-old daughter to come of age. Why?
I tried advising her to let go of some of the shoes to her friends, but she didn't give me a damn response, and I think I understood her too. The friends I usually see her around are the flashy kind, and I think hoarding those shoes is a means of competition between them.
Thanks for reading.

What a terrible way to live. Hoarding hoes for either her baby or for competition is unhealthy.
Too much of everything is bad. See you better charge her for space rentals that the shoes used at your place o. Send her the bill so that she can be aware or better still threaten to sell the shoes😆
Hahahaha!😂
Ofcourse, the price I have her last year can not the what she's going to pay.

Hmm it's well
Uwc all the same
I think customers are like that. My sister is fashion designer and my mom weaves cloth. I totally related. They’re a lot of clothes that the customers left without asking. My mom usually give them out after a year or so.
That's it.
Most people often leave and forget their clothes in such places. I have a lot that I'm still waiting for one more year to dash them out if the owners don't come for it.
