Hive & other social media

Let’s be very truthful here — when it comes to maximum entertainment, other social media platforms beat Hive, and there’s no big debate about that because Hive is not designed basically for entertainment but rather on a more &serious' ground.

Am I wrong?

Hive is more about long, meaningful, and serious articles, while other social media platforms are more entertaining, especially in this era where they pay and videos earn hugely.

But then, Hive stands out as a more original platform with regard to the quality of content and the fact that it’s a Web3 platform and the quality is still maintained on Hive deserves loud applause. Meanwhile, the other social media platforms are practically filled with copyright issues, plagiarism, and other forms of unoriginal content — and no one seems bothered. Maybe because I’m used to Hive and original content, I frown deeply at plagiarism and AI-written posts on platforms like Facebook and X, and I just wish I had the power to take down those articles.

The biggest beauty of Hive over other social media platforms is its decentralized nature, and that’s a Web3 thing. Other social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X, and others are Web2 and are centralized, which means they have a body controlling things — there’s little or no privacy. But on the Hive platform, it’s totally decentralized, with the user being in total control of their account, and no one has a say over it. Unlike Web2 social media, where one can be restricted from withdrawing earned money from their account due to one issue or another, on Hive, all the money in the wallet is totally and fully owned by the user. It can be used anytime the user deems fit, and there are no restrictions on the account of any kind. The highest that could happen on Hive is an individual blocking or muting another individual — nothing more than that.

Another thing that makes Hive better than other social media platforms is the earning process. Although it may seem that earnings on other social media platforms look bigger, the manner in which that money is obtained is mostly on a ‘farming’ basis — pulling for engagement. Most times, original content doesn’t count, except for those who have already made names there. Others go about ‘farming’ engagement by posting irrelevant things or resorting to plagiarism. On Hive, originality has a bigger role in determining one’s earnings, and these earnings come gradually and keep growing as one stays consistent.
