Hardwork Alone Has Never Been Enough

I doubt there was ever a time when hard work alone was enough to achieve success in this life. No, no, that has never happened—hard work alone is never enough to attain success.

There are other things that must align with hard work to achieve success, wealth, or any goal one is aiming for.

Do you know that there are people out there who write a minimum of 3,000 words daily on a blogging platform and end up receiving just $1 at the end of the month? In case you're doubting me, Fashtioluwa once told me about a writing platform that pays less than $0.5 monthly, and he was invited to join by someone already blogging there. Less than $0.5 monthly? Naaaah! That's a waste of time and a waste of hard work too. That person writing there is assumed to be putting in massive effort—more than what some of us are doing here—but her hard work is not yielding any result. Even if she continues for the next 10 years, nothing tangible would come out of it.

In this situation, the lady is already putting in the hard work, but what she truly needs is connection—someone who will connect her to a platform where she can maximise the hard work she’s already putting in.

There are many people out there who are passionate about writing and are probably writing on platforms where they had to pay to register, and at the end of the day, they get scammed. Meanwhile, they don’t even know about the Hive platform, where they can write freely and earn. These people—what they need is someone to show them, guide them, or connect them. It’s just a click, and everything starts flowing with ease.

I love music. I love to talk about music, and I have come to observe the differences between some top musicians and the lesser-known ones. These days in the music industry, talent and hard work are not all that is required to become famous or successful—connection matters a lot. In fact, one of the major stepping stones in the music industry for someone who wants to be famous is to be highly connected with the right people—people that matter.

There are people at the grassroots who are more talented and more crafted than the ones making waves. These people put in a lot of effort and make good music, but at the end of the day, their songs don’t even get known in their own vicinity. Meanwhile, the connected ones—just a cough on a microphone—and their sound is everywhere. That’s the power of connection.

Another aspect I would like to highlight is the subject of working smart. We are in a digital world, and anyone who wants to attain success must not rely on manual hard work alone. The person must think in line with digital trends.

Working smart makes it easier to attract connections. One of the buzzing ladies in Mavin Records was discovered and picked by the boss of Mavin through a post she made about her music during her early days, on social media. You see, someone can be putting in all the hard work, but without smartness, such a person might never get noticed.
