Gifting for fame and recognition

Greetings!

Many times, I have had this debate with friends about whether the latest trend of gifting or donating for fame is good or bad, and there's no way we arrived at a good conclusion. The truth is that, whether we like it or not, gifting for fame is the new order of living, and even when many people are not okay with it, society can't help but play along with it.

Away from the popular celebrities we see with this kind of act on social media, I had a friend who celebrated his birthday by going to a filling station and buying fuel for all the motorcyclists there at that moment. How did I know about this? It was on social media. While he was doing so, he had his cameraman capturing every bit of it and he posted all the photos on Facebook. When I saw it posted on social media, I took a pause to think because this guy is not actually into social media content, and as far as I know, he's not doing that to gain followers. So why did he do so? The answer is simple: he wanted to join the trend and be known for his good deed.

Okay, if he hadn't posted it on social media, wouldn't the 'good' still be good to the people he blessed? You can't beat it; it's the trend of the day.

As much as I don't like such acts, I don't argue much about it because it's the trend of the era, but you can't find me doing such unless I'm intentionally and deeply vibing for it to gain the trust of the people when I'm running for a political position or doing something related to that.

What if someone donates something to me in order to gain fame?

Well, my reaction depends on the kind of gifting and the background in which it was done. Just like many would say, they can't take it lightly at all. Well, 90% of users on this blockchain are cool with it, and they don't know.

How?

What about seeing your name tagged in a post of curated posts on this blockchain? Isn't that what we're referring to by 'helping to get fame or recognition'? That's just it; anyone voting your post and tagging you publicly is doing it to get recognized, and we don't frown at such. Why? It's done in a simple form, not directly chasing clout per se but by boosting the blockchain. So that's it. If I'm being helped and publicized in such a way, I wouldn't frown at it. The one I wouldn't take is someone gifting me 20,000 Naira and putting it in the newspaper or on social media like Facebook or Twitter. No, no!

Imagine waking up to see your face all over the place because you were helped by someone who wants to promote his or her song or account. No way!

Thanks reading.

That's it.
Once you do that, people will come rushing to follow and cheer you up.
That's the work we live in .
Thank you

I agree with what you said. It is sad to see that some people, besides being in a situation of need, are also exposed in these conditions. It is sad to see that this has become an opportunity for people to self-promote...

It is very sad. Self-promotion is now the order of the day and even when th society is not okay with it, nothing can be done🥲.

I'm always amazed when people help others and start recording and then publish online, all of these isn't necessary before you'll be recognised.

Giving naturally, your fame will spread across without show off and co, hopefully these guys will learn.

I feel so sad seeing people doing good and then recording it for fame. I wonder what they gain from it.

I'm not saying people shouldn't give but do that without looking for fame or gain.

It is very bad but we can't help it.
That has been the norm of this era we are.
