Festival of rain

Yesterday, very early in the morning, it rained so heavily, and I believed so much that with that intensity, the rain would stop in the short run and at least give us a little sunlight to make a little laundry. But no, even with that intensity, the rain fell from the morning till around 3 p.m. when the intensity reduced to normal drizzling. The drizzling wasn't much, but one couldn't stay outside for up to 30 minutes without getting wet.

The rain managed to completely stop around 4 p.m., and there was a little show of sun. I had waited for that sun all day because I had a lot of clothes to wash and sun-dry. Immediately I saw the sun, I turned on my generator and began to wash. I knew the clothes were not going to dry since it was evening already, and the faint sun would not do any magic on them. But since the rain fell heavily and endlessly, it meant that the rain was not going to fall the next day. This was exactly what I thought, and it pushed me to wash the clothes.

When night came, I packed the spin-damp clothes inside and hung them on the rope hanger I have indoors, with the intention of sunning them first thing this morning when the sun appeared. Yes, I had the mindset that today would be a very sunny day because of the manner in which the rain fell yesterday.

This morning, around 6:50 a.m., while still in bed, the gates of heaven opened, and rain began to pour like an empty drum turned upside down. A very heavy rain it was—exactly the same intensity as that of yesterday.

All my climate forecasting and predictions yesterday turned out to be a slap on my face this morning.

“Okay, with this intensity and early start, I’m sure it’ll stop at most by 11 a.m. and give us some sunlight,” I thought and stitched my mind to wait for afternoon to dry the clothes I washed yesterday and possibly wash some more.

But nope, the rain fell till 12 noon, calmed down with medium drizzling, and kicked off again around 2 p.m. with a heavy downpour. It was still raining heavily around 3:33 p.m. when I picked up my phone and decided to make a rant about the endless rain that looked like the clouds were having a rain festival.

The clothes I washed yesterday are still on the rope, and some of them have started getting an odour. It’s very bad because it means I will have to wash them again.

I won’t lie, I don’t like the way the day played out. What an unbelievable day!
