Fencing with mosquito nets
After getting discouraged due to lack of resources to fence the little space I have been using for my garden, after goats and fowls had been terrorising the plants there, I abandoned it. But I decided to take the bold step to return back to it, and I resorted to making the fence with very limited resources. I never thought of this at all.
So yeah, I used abandoned mosquito nets, used scissors to trim them into a usable form, and used nails to pin them to the block wall. There were two entrances leading to the space, so I closed the two of them with the net. The blocking is in a way that I can still pass if I was to stretch my leg, but I made an opening where I can easily untie to give me an entrance.
Won’t the pests pass through since the fencing is flexible?
From what I noticed, the goats and fowls entering the space were doing so because they saw it very open, so the blocking is not actually to forcefully prevent them from passing but just to give them that sight view that there’s a blockage and they can’t pass. Yeah, ever since it was installed, the goats haven’t made an attempt to enter to chop the bitter leaf plants which they had been doing almost every week. Well, maybe I’m too quick to give the judgement because goats can be very stubborn sometimes and they can actually have their way.
After I made the cover, I cleared off the weeds that had taken over the place. That day, I searched for a cutlass and I didn’t see one, so I resorted to using my bare hands to pull off the weeds. They were very grown but at the same time easy to pull off the ground. After removing the weeds, the pepper plants I left abandoned in the midst of the weeds looked so frustrated, and they should also understand me because it was frustration that made me leave them like that. Lol.😅 One plant in particular was looking good and has flowers on it, and I hope it’ll be able to produce fruits since the place is fenced and nothing will be able to get in to shake off or chop off the flowers.
That same day, I put some pepper seeds in the nursery bed and I hope they germinate so I’ll kick off the journey from there.
Thanks for reading.

Your idea is really great! Using mosquito nets for the fence is such a big help. I feel the same sometimes it’s hard to leave my plants because of the chickens and for you it’s the goats. I hope your plants are now safe and doing well.
