Didn't take COVID-19 vaccine and you're still alive?

The last vaccine I took was in 2021, if I'm not mistaken, and it was via injection, which actually got me scared of taking the vaccine. But I was in the midst of people, especially ladies, who were accepting the injection intake as a simple thing. I had to man up and surrender my right arm to be pierced. The truth is, if I was the only one there— I mean, if I were not in the midst of ladies— I wouldn't have agreed to take the injection, and I wouldn't have been bothered about the repercussions of not getting vaccinated.
Funny enough, we weren't told the reason or the function of the vaccine.
So that is me. I'm not so fond of vaccines even though I know the value they hold, and it all boils down to my upbringing and the conspiracy theories in my part of the world surrounding the vaccination talk. I can take the syrup, but whenever it comes to syringes, I see no reason to suffer the pain just to take in something whose function is not even certain, as we're made to believe.
Does it mean I don't believe in the effect of vaccines?
Hey! I believe in it so much. In fact, I once coordinated a vaccination programme some years back, and we were made to educate citizens of the village to take vaccines because it's very necessary in the fight against the particular disease that was in the air at that moment. Before that, we were also groomed on the importance of the vaccine. So yeah, I know vaccines are real and effective, but there's a but.
Sometimes, these vaccines—just like what we watch in movies—are hijacked and something else gets infused into them. Please don't attack me yet because I have seen things too, so I'm not just talking based on mere conspiracy. The time I coordinated a vaccination programme in the East, there was one of the vaccines we noticed was very different from the others. The colour was different. Maybe it wasn't something serious—maybe it got expired or something else. We were advised to trash it. You know, vaccines are very sensitive, and a little glitch could lead to something dangerous. Some countries, especially underdeveloped ones, can be so careless in the safekeeping or production of these substances, and in the end, instead of making the body system active, it weakens it or causes something else.
The hijacking into something else is another speculation that makes people skeptical about taking vaccines—especially now in Nigeria where everything is politicised. Yes, this happens, and it's real!
The time of COVID-19 was real. Although a lot of people came out to say that there was nothing wrong with the vaccines, the speculation about the danger of the vaccine was high. As for me, I deliberately decided not to take it. Those of us that didn't take it—maybe we should be dead by now. Lol.
I know the value of vaccines and vaccination, but I only take them if I'm willing to. Okay, go ahead and call me a local champion or an illiterate 😅
