Coffee over alcohol

Greetings πŸ™Œ

Over here in my country, alcohols, which are mostly very bitter in taste, are what we use to identify men in the midst of boys. Inasmuch as this sounds funny, it's basically the truth. Guys who don't drink alcoholic drinks are often seen as weaklings when seated among those who do, and I'm proudly among the weaklings because I don't drink them. Lol. It's not like I haven't tasted an alcoholic drinks before, ofcourse I know how they taste.

So when placed to choose which one to delete permanently from my life between coffee and alcohol, it's definitely going to be alcohol. Apart from my natural dislike for alcohol, the major reasons I would choose to have coffee over alcoholic drinks are as follows:

  • Coffee is healthy

Although some alcohols have substances that are good for human health, most times these substances react harshly, especially when taken in excess. For coffee, it's known to contain antioxidants which help a lot in reducing the risk of some health issues, and this doesn't go to extremes when taken in excess.
I remember a certain time ago when I was still at home, one of my uncles who worked in a company owned by foreigners, they always made it a compulsory thing to have coffee in the morning before they started their work... according to my uncle, he said they were told so so that their bodies would remain clean and safe.

I would always go with what will benefit my body system.

  • Coffee keeps me awake

Many times when I have loads of work to attend to and need to be awake to tackle them all, coffee is my go-to drink. It increases my body's alertness, energy level, and mental focus. I don't know if this is the same for everyone because I do see people who drink alcohol to stay awake. The few times I tried drinking some sips of alcohol in order to stay awake to read my books, I ended up sleeping as if I was under the effect of sleeping pills. But with a cup of NescafΓ©(most commonest sachet of coffee in my country), my body system stays awake all through, and at some times, I would finish my work and be begging to sleep.

  • Coffee still keeps my brain intact

I haven't had alcohol to the point of being drunk and talking gibberish or staggering, but I've seen people in such moods and it always makes me wonder why people can't abstain when they know that such is not good for their bodies. Taking coffee, even in excess, doesn't have an effect on my body system as being drunk. It's just so different from alcoholic drinks! This means that even after gulping my cups of coffee, I can still go out and mingle with friends, I can still go out to make presentations. I can still do my physical works that need sharp tools, and I wouldn't be scared of using them unlike how it works when someone is soaked in alcohol.

Sigh!
I need to go for a cup of coffee. See y'all.

Thanks for reading.

Alcohol and Coffee play different function to the body and according to the points you listed, coffee is the best for you.

I have heard people drink alcohol for energy and others but it's the other way around for me because it only makes me sleep no matter how much I am awake before drinking.

You chose very well, coffee will always be the best option, it brings us infinite benefits, I am also inclined to coffee.

How funny, it also gave me a lot of desire to drink coffee, but I can't, it's at night, if I do I don't sleep 😁.

Good on you wrt alcohol. I do have it from time to time, especially in company. But more often than not I say no to it. I find it better to enjoy life in full color rather than hazy. The way I got used to drinking in moderation was to only drink very good liquor. The price was such that guzzling it down was stupid. If I drank in moderation I could drink the good stuff. Thanks to this attitude I have cut down on liquor consumption in a big way.

Coffee is cool too, but I am a chai person. And that too I have typically brought down to twice a day, sometimes even once. Overall even this is good in moderation only. It does start playing with your sleep cycles if overdone. Some people get over stimulated too. But in moderation it is all good I feel.

Either ways I hope people do what they want, cause they want to do it, rather than to impress the fools around :)

Fun post. Thanks for sharing. Cheers from a fellow #dreemerforlife
