16 soldiers dead, Nigeria federal government continues to battle with Binance

Due to network issues for the past week, most of us were cut off from many things except social media. Personally, I didn't find navigating social media interesting, so I stayed off and uninformed about what's happening in my state and the world.

It was Sunday afternoon when I returned from church and turned on my radio that I heard the news of the killing of 16 soldiers in my state. It was terrifying because it's rare for soldiers to be killed outside of World War thing.
So, I quickly went online to check for more details, and I found out that two communities, Okuama and Okoloba, in a local government in my state, Delta State, had been battling over land ownership, which is very common in my part of the world. The situation escalated with many killings, soldiers and police officers were deployed to the communities to restore peace. However, the situation turned sour, resulting in a gun battle that left 16 soldiers and police officers dead. You can read more here

As it stands now, the military has launched into the communities to drive out everyone. I wonder how the occupants of the communities are coping with life without their homes and belongings.

This incident reinforces what we always preach: war/violence is never the approach to achieving peace. The communities got it all wrong by initiating violence against the peacekeeping forces. It's a dire situation.

Currently, all roads leading to or passing through those communities have been blocked, making life unbearable for people who rely on those roads for their daily activities.

The Nigerian federal government has demanded from Binance to release the details of the top 100 Nigerian Binance users

While scrolling the internet this morning, I came across this topic. At first, I laughed and moved on because it seemed laughable. However, something told me to go back and read it again. I did, and I was surprised.

As much as it may seem trivial, it's what's currently happening. The federal government of Nigeria has ordered Binance to release the details of their top 100 Nigerian users for tracking purposes.

Why?

Well, the government previously shut down Binance's operations in Nigeria in an attempt to halt the devaluation of the fiat currency, Naira. It was claimed that the sudden devaluation of the Naira was caused by the increase in peer-to-peer trading of Naira. Naira was delisted from Binance, but now the government is demanding details of the top users, which, under normal circumstances, would be improper because the cryptocurrency world is supposed to be free from such interventions, unlike local banks. Currently, Binance has refused, and the argument is ongoing.
You can read the story here

I don't know who is advising the federal government of my country to embark on such hunt. With the way things are looking, they're very serious to prosecute any victim of such. Binance needs to do better by not releasing any details to them. Afterall, the did has been done already by delisting Naira from the trading peer and p2p too.

As for me, I'm not scared of being listed, ofcourse I can't been seen there cause I'm not even up to 0.001% usage. Lol 😅

Thanks For reading.
