One of the most interesting happenings in existence on earth is that, in times to come, what’s happening now will be regarded as old, and there’s one thing associated with old things — they’re gold. They carry a lot of memories, and anyone alive to reminisce about the good old days is blessed.

The songs we have now, both the ones trending and the ones on low-key, will, in a few years to come, be regarded as old songs, and by then, what’s left for us are the memories they brought and the sweet feelings of how songs were made back then.

Let me not talk further. I came across some old collections while searching for the songs to be used for my #ttt post, and that’s what I’m going to share below:

ARA by Brymo:

One of the oldest music labels in Nigeria, Chocolate City, introduced Brymo to fame through this track, and it’s a masterpiece — truly evergreen. Honestly, anyone listening to this song today would wish there could be a way to bring back the era when good efforts were put into music-making. Come on, just take a listen or a watch, feel the iconic sound and the lyrics, even though it’s done more in the indigenous Yoruba language. This song was released 13 years ago, and anytime it comes on, it has a way of transporting one into the good old days. The songwriter, Brymo, still speaks when the big boys of the music industry today are talking due to his solid contribution to good music in his days. I just know that if anybody doesn’t know this song, @balikis95 can sing out every bit of the lyrics.

Oliver Twist by D’banj:

This song was also released 13 years ago, but it’s still a party song till today because of its unique, danceable beat. There was a time my church friends and I were returning from church. We were walking, and when we got to a bar along the road, this song was playing at a high volume, and I didn’t know when I started singing aloud along with the play. My friends were shocked at the manner in which I hopped on the song.

Mehn, there’s something about old music!

Overseas by Davido and Shina Rambo

Many people may not know this song, but it was one of the songs through which I got to know Davido when he was coming up. Like, I can sing a big part of this song. OMG!

“I will take you to overseas, girl.”“I will buy you a diamond ring, girl.”

Trust me, I sang these lines aloud while typing, but unfortunately, there’s no voice record option to add it here. Lol

Thanks for reading.

Old school songs as we call them really have more meaning, wording and messages in them than what we are listening in this generation.

All the songs you listed were really one of a kind in their own way and till date they are still appreciated
