The sound of culture

This painting is inspired by African traditional instruments that carry deep cultural significance and connect us to our roots.

Here, I captured the djembe drum, sekere, bata drums, and the talking drum. These instruments are not just tools for making music, they are storytellers, healers, and keepers of heritage. Each rhythm played on them speaks of joy, struggle, celebration, and history.

Working on this piece gave me the chance to study textures, wood, leather, and fabric, while also reminding me of how important these sounds are to our identity as Africans.

Art for me is not just about colors and strokes, it is about preserving memory and telling stories through visuals. This piece is my way of celebrating the rhythm of tradition.
