BEETLE
Medium: Mixed Media
Size: A4 Paper
Date: 2024
Art has always been my way of observing the world with deeper eyes. Sometimes I find inspiration in people, other times in everyday life but this time, my focus shifted to the world of insects.
The beetle caught my attention because of its structure, resilience, and symbolism. When we look at such small creatures, we often overlook their beauty and strength. Yet, nature designed them with armor-like shells, delicate wings, and intricate patterns almost like a masterpiece in itself.
In this work, I combined linework and shading to give the beetle a sense of motion, as though it’s crawling into life on paper. The mixed media allowed me to explore both softness and hardness: the soft shading of the wings versus the strong, armored body.
To me, the beetle represents survival and adaptability. Just like in life, we sometimes need to shield ourselves, yet still find ways to move, grow, and fly.
When I create insect-inspired pieces like this, I’m reminded that art doesn’t always have to shout; sometimes it whispers through the details we often ignore.
