The Globalized Man
Human beings have existed for thousands of years, and the history of the evolution of man has been one that I can say is controversial. I feel this phenomenon is one that even the best scientists have struggled to wrap their heads around.
I remember having a discussion with a woman who was worried about her son's act of indiscipline and how she has been trying to let him know that he did not fall from the sky but that some gave birth to him. It means that the inquiry into the origin of man has been in existence for years.
We have all had to deal with the big bang theory: that the universe started from a single point, yet we got to the stage where we find ourselves. It's the same as the evolution of man.
Anthropology has tried to dive into the origin of man. As we know, anthropology is the human science that studies the origin of man and how man has evolved through the ages in his relationship with his environment and other humans. It looks into different societies and their cultural heritage in order to understand them. Using man's interactions with his environment and other humans as a basis of analysis. It has used the study of genetics to try to link man to other species. This has made us hear words like man being a higher animal.
The cultural aspect of anthropology states that man is shaped based on his cultural heritage. Well, for me, I believe that culture has shaped human behavior over centuries. We know that culture is not inborn but is taught. As a baby grows, it is the behavior of those around us that we copy. But globalization has influenced man's behavior in the 21st century. The world is a global village, and we can't really understand man based on his cultural heritage, as there is a mix of cultures in our current world.
The evolution of man has been debated for years. Man has been classified as an animal, that is, a mammal. Mammals are simply those animals that give birth to their young ones alive. And man has been placed at the apex of this group. But it has been argued that man wasn't always at the apex; he is just the species that has not gone into extinction.Different cultures and tribes have their own origins in man, but does that really make sense in reality?
Man has been grouped as a primate, and here there are over 100 species, but man is regarded as the most advanced. This group shares some distinct characteristics from the other animals, like the ability to see things clearly, the ability to hold things, its body size, and its brain development. This grouping was done based on scientific research showing this group shares some genetic features. These primates are relatively more intelligent than other animals.
Man is regarded as a Homo sapiens because of our features. According to studies, it was a lifelong process before man got to this stage of development. Which is different from the ape-like beginning stage. The development of man's brain is advanced and more complicated than that of other primates. Does this mean that science has to be able to truly explain the evolution of man? Most humans have rejected the various theories explaining the evolution of man based on the behavioral advancement of man.
Man's behavior is quite complex and somewhat unexplainable.Looking into man's relational behavior, one can say that man is more advanced than the other species. Our culture and traditions shape our behaviors. Africans and Europeans are from different cultures and their approach to issues differ. But in our modern world globalization has shaped our behaviors, that we tend to borrow behaviors which might not fit with our culture and society.
Man has been able to relate to his physical environment by inventing things that have helped him over the years. Just think about the bridges all over the world, the ships, and the agricultural tools that begin to be used. One would understand that man is a more advanced species. In his social interaction, man invented the telephone, the Internet, and the mass media equipment to help it.
Man's show of love and hate is one that we must take as evidence of our advanced characteristics. The behavior of man is shaped by his needs and environment. Can we say that about other animals? The evolution of man is one phenomenon that human reasoning is not able to understand.
The origin of man is one that we must always be careful when trying to explain. We should understand that the biological complexity of the human body is one that can't be explained. Even scientists have not been able to explain how well the human body has been arranged and knitted together. The evolution of man is complex, and for me, I just enjoy the advancement of man.
