Driving Through The City

Driving is a beautiful experience, and sometimes it can be smooth or rough. One of the things I enjoy doing is driving.

Driving is more than transportation; it's fun for me, but I prefer long distance driving, where one would have to pass through a lot of villages and towns as I would soak in the beauty of these places.

I remember driving through a mountainous area; the beauty was captivating. Long-distance driving is, for me, more educational and entertaining. I got to know more towns and cities.

I remember going on a long-distance journey with a friend. It was super exciting and fun. We drove through the town, and we were amazed by the beauty of the ancient town of Calabar. I saw a lot of buildings that were built by the British during the colonial period.

A particular community got my attention: Duke Town. It had the feel of the 1940s; most of the houses had red bricks. As we drove through Duke Town, we saw a lot of cars parked in an open space, and it seemed there was a big screen displaying some pictures. My friend Chris asked me if I had ever experienced a drive-in cinema. I said no. He turned the car, and we drove to the open field.

I was surprised to see more than 100 cars parked and their doors open. Everyone was watching the movie on the big screen. Some people sat in their cars, while others sat on top of their cars. This was new for me. The movie on display was Mission Impossible. I could see the excitement on everyone's face. I had seen the movie already, but I was so excited to have a drive-in cinema experience, and I can say it was great.

Mission impossible ended, and my friend said we should leave. I was not ready to leave, so I convinced him to stay. The whole experience was amazing; I wish I had known the place earlier. We stayed for another two hours. When the movie that was on display ended, it was 10 p.m., and the screen was shut down. I loved how the cars drove out in an orderly manner. It was so beautiful that I wish we had a drive-in cinema in my town.

I love traveling a lot, as it is one of my hobbies. My longest road trip was a 12-hour journey. And I can say it was worth it. From driving through the forest and towns to driving through a narrow bridge, the experience was amazing. I was going to the Obudu cattle ranch in Cross River, Nigeria. One of the amazing memories I had from the trip was when we got to a fishing settlement; our driver stopped to have some roasted fish with potato chips. He informed us that if we had a taste, we would definitely ask for more. I had a bite, and I became Oliver Twist. As we left the fishing settlement, I vowed to come back and have more of the fish.

Road trips are also amazing because one gets to make new friends. On the trip to Obudu, I met with David, who has turned out to be a great friend. I was sitting next to David on the bus, but we never talked, not until I saw him going through the Lakers website. So I asked if he was a Lakers fan, and he replied in the affirmative. I was so excited to meet a fellow Lakers fan. We connected immediately and chatted all through the journey; we even discussed the players the Lakers needed on their roster.

I hope to embark on more road trips this year. Road trips are amazing as one gets to learn new things and appreciate nature.
