HOLIDAY IS COMING

There is a song we used to sing back in secondary school “Holiday is coming”. Back then we sang that song with joy as students looking forward to a very precious holiday. For me, how nice a holiday is depends heavily on what happens in the morning. If the morning is free, then the holiday is great for me, if it’s not, then it’s like every other day. I love holidays a lot, especially when it’s more than a day. It usually helps me recharge for a better week because in a week I can only rely on Saturday for a proper sleep as Sunday is for church. Growing u I was used to a busy sunday morning and to date it’s still what I am now used to which is why I enjoy it a lot when there is more than one day of holiday to enjoy within the week. As long as I can sleep and wake up whenever I want without missing out on anything I am happy to have had a wonderful holiday experience. I am not a morning person and if the rain mysteriously falls on that holiday morning day, then my holiday would be spectacular as I could end up waking up around 12:00 PM with nothing to do in the morning.

Although I love my sleep, I hate having things pending as it often leaves me having that thing in mind and having nightmares if they are left undone, making me unable to enjoy my sweet sleep. This is why a lot of the times I might work overnight on a holiday from the previous day. If I have thighs to do on a tuesday which happen to be a holiday, I will start working on it from monday and sometimes work until midnight to ensure I finish it before sleeping so that I do not have to ever look forward to doing anything expect on rare occasions, I hate things messing up my holiday sleep. But then again, I do not wish for more holidays because the truth is one man's food will be another man's poison. I see how my sister struggles to sell during holidays when I am at home and considering the efforts of waking up as early as 3:00 am everyday, I know how she feels when holidays come as her customer base reduces by half that day.

As much as I love holidays so much, I believe the corporate world and the ordinary world should have a balance, while the corporate world needs rest, the part of the ordinary world that sometimes relies on the corporate world suffers and this should not be allowed to go on more than it's needed. This is why when schools go on strike it’s not only the students that are affected, the woman that makes money by selling food daily to students can not work until the school resumes and that bookshop opened near the school would be nearly useless that day. The same thing happens when hospitals go on strike. Now imagine what happens if we have holidays half the time we work, there is a lack of employment in this country, and these people hustling daily might suffer heavily.
