DECENTRALIZED VS CENTRALIZED
One of the things I love about hive is the fact that it is decentralized. But then I must be honest, it has not gotten to the level of web2 social media interfaces have gotten to in the area of engagement and entertainment. Let’s be honest, although we have communities on hive that have different niches and all, it’s not everyday you get to enjoy the kind of contents you enjoy on web 2 social media platforms. For example, I will still prefer to get my daily news on web2 social media platforms because I get to see different sides and views of one niche in different ways. Plus every creator is finding ways to grab attention and they would get it anyhow.

Hive and web3 still feels more like a freelance platform than a social media platform and everyone is struggling to hustle out the money. SOme would even participate in challenges they can’t do just so they can get something substantial, and until that cycle is broken on hive, I do not feel Hive would truly become a social media platform. It takes a lot to deliver content day in day out, and this is why many are jumping into the web2 social media monetization scheme, and while some do make almost nothing from views, there are those who make more tan one could ever dream of.
But there comes another big difference between web 2 and web 3 and that is the point of decentralization and centralization. Let’s be honest, here on hive the highest a person can get is downvotes, and there are ways to reconcile even after getting a bad reputation. But for web2 social media platforms, someone somewhere can choose to ban you from an account you created and there is nothing you can do about it. Your private information can be leaked to the public and there is nothing you can do about it. And I think this is what makes web3 social media platforms like hive very safe to use. No fear of getting banned, No fear of losing your account (Safer at least than web2) And most of all, this is a safe space for kids to utilize.
