AN ACT OF SACRIFICE

I woke up with my day already planned out, I was supposed to go to the office today because there is a deadline I am supposed to meet for a website I am building for my company. I was so busy during the week with other activities encroaching into my time and it became difficult to sit down to work. I planned on using today to cover up for most of the work because I will need to present it to my MD on Monday in preparation for an audit coming up. But then something unexpected happened this morning that made me drop all my plans.

My partner got a call that her grandma passed away this morning. Prior to the news she had been telling me she missed her mum and grandma and wanted to call them, but for some reason she wasn't able to do so yesterday. I guess it skipped her mind. Her Grandma was really old, I think 104 years before her passing, but she grew up with her grandma and thus had a really close relationship with her. The news really broke her, and I knew I could not just bring myself to leave her in that state.

She clearly needed someone, and seeing there was no one close to comfort her, I had to cancel all my plans for the day, tried cheering her up, took a walk with her, and got her some of her favorite snacks because eating helps her ease tension. Truth be told, this isn’t something that I would do for just anyone because my job is kinda at stake at the moment and I am trying to rack my brain to figure out how to work from home and get something done before Monday. But then again, I know she’s worth the sacrifice. Things we do for love huh!
