A GROWTH BATTLE

If you happen to be a regular on my blog, it’s no news that I am intentional about growth. Last year I noticed at a point that I stopped growing. At least I stopped growing intentionally and was just leaving life as it came. I discovered that it was because I was hurt which in a way led to depression and I focused more on healing and being happy than on growing. I think the whole experience was another growth process for me, but I’m glad that it has led me to where I am now with my current partner. But then again, it hasn’t been an easy ride. I decided to change the narrative this year so My partner and I decided that our major goal this year will be to experience growth in every area of our lives.

We started with a journey to spiritual growth which helped our relationship and helped me personally. It exposed and fixed parts of me that had been broken in past relationships. Actually it exposed and fixed part of us that was broken in past relationships. The Journey hasn’t been a smooth one to be honest, one of the things we have both battled is consistency. It’s easy to lose focus at a point, but I remember a saying of one of my past teachers. Sometimes consistency isn’t just about the ability to keep going nonstop, it could also be the ability to keep getting up every time we fall. And this has in a way helped with the disappointments of inconsistency.

Apart from our spiritual journey, we have also decided to grow intellectually and mentally by taking courses and trying out new things. And like I said earlier on it hasn’t been a rollercoaster of experiences but we try to get back up. Entering this month we discovered we have tried so many things within a short time but have had little success because we were more like jakes of all trade. We decided we were both going to focus on one area of development and do it continually instead of looking for the next available thing. This was when I realized I had a big issue with focusing on one thing. My body has become so used to multitasking that it just wants to multitask by default but then I have decided not to let it and at a point I began to feel like a child going to school knowing he hasn’t done his homework.

It has become so strange to come home early or sleep early or just listen to a book without doing anything in the background, but I must be first committed to learning how to take it one step at a time and do it continually everyday. For our finances we know growing our skillset will increase our finances that is why we decided to learn as much as we can about finances. I enrolled for a 6 months trading course and I’m about to enroll for a 14 days linkedin course. But we understand all these require a lot of discipline and we decided to take measures to discipline ourselves and also reward ourselves after every success. Growing is great when you get to do it with someone who loves and supports you and is even better when you do the same for them.
