Some Things I Made In Blender Today

Yesterday we had a bit of a session on Blender to dust the cobwebs off and come up with a game plan, but today we got some real stuff done after getting used to it again.

My friend couldn't get on as early as he thought today, so I got started alone which was kind of fun.

Getting used to it again was surprisingly easy, and after yesterdays session I felt fairly confident.

I mad this landing platform looking building.

Essentially we're looking for basic shapes and structure designs, nothing too fancy or highly detailed for the background buildings.

This one was more of a mess around, but turned out kind of cool.

After finishing that I decided to try something a bit different and ended up making this above ground walkway.

It's again, just a mess around, I was thinking of a design like this where people can walk in safety above ground, and as a practical world building element beneath these walkways will be shanty town buildings where the homeless in certain sectors utilise them for extra cover.

Then I built this, which has to be one of the best things I've ever made.

It's a docking station of sorts where larger military craft can land and conduct their business without having to leave their ships in dockyards.

The back of the building has this odd design I made, but in my mind it serves a purpose.

It's an interstellar satellite used for encrypted communications, monitoring space lanes, and also directing inbound and outbound traffic.

Pretty cool looking with some lore potential, even if only in design alone.

After that, I built this little apartment block as a background building.

The apartments aren't finished yet, but only need some detailing and texture added.

These will essentially be duplicated and scattered around alongside a few other similarly designed buildings.

That's where I'm at so far, and my friend made a few too. Our goal is to have about 20 buildings of varying sizes, and then we'll start placing them.

A fair few will be duplicated and rotated to not make it too obvious.

Right on. These look great. I used to do work with 3D stuff but haven't touched it in a long time. It's great to see that you got back into it and could easily pick it up. Muscle memory. It must feel like getting back to a familiar place.

It did, man. I feel like everything I had learned last time came back in a matter of minutes. It's mad, though, because it's been about 3+ years since the last time I done any

Exactly. It's a weird feeling of exhilaration and familiarity. It's hard to describe but oh so good.
