Saint Pancakes Day
Many hundreds of years ago, somewhere in Europe, there lived a man known as Panthony, and he decided to try out a new recipe.
As the legends say, it happened by accident, like a great many things that have been made by the hand and mind of a Human being.
One day, he had a bowl of flour laying on his kitchen counter. He was stressing over breakfast, as he did almost every morning. The meal had to be nice, filling, to be consumed as a sweet treat, or perhaps even a savory one.
Panthony took a sip of milk, and placed it near his bowl of flour as he lit a fire underneath his... rock, I guess. Once lit, he continued to think of what to make.
Suddenly, a deranged chicken flapped through his window, and clucked up his crib... I mean, this chicken really messed the place up.
He tried desperately to catch it, but the chicken was far too fast for him. At one point, the chicken knocked over his glass of milk, 300ml of the white liquid fell into his bowl of 100grams of flour.
No notice was taken of the mess, as he was far too busy trying to stop the feathery creature from destroying his house. Finally, after a few minutes, Panthony submitted to the chicken. He begged it to stop, which it did, happily.
As a power move the chicken squatted over his milk filled bowl of flower and laid two eggs. Before leaving, the chicken kicked the bowl, sending it spinning across the countertop. Once the spinning ended, there was a nice yellowy looking concoction in the bowl.
It didn't look very appetizing, so Panthony tossed it aside, but a half a ladle of the stuff landed on his hot rock, and it produced a very nice smell.
In memory of Saint Panthony, we celebrate that faithful day, but copying him in making a tasty treat. Although, we decided to throw a cap of vanilla in ours.
Anyway, where was I.
Panthony smelled the treat cooking away, and he catiously flipped it over, noticing it was nice and golden on one side, and once the other side was cooked he put some sugar, and a bit of lemon on it.
The taste overwhelmed him and he cried.
He made another, and then another. By time he had eaten four, he was stuffed, and decided to make some for some of the other villagers.
Following the life of Saint Panthony, we too cook a pancake for our loved ones.
Kaleb tried them today, and really enjoyed them. He had one with chocolate, and one with peanut butter.
He traveled around his country until he was called by the pope himself, to bring his cakes to the Vatican. Well, he went, nervously prepared one, and handed it over. Upon the first bite, he was sainted.
By time the pope had his fill, a mission was bestowed upon Panthony to travel the globe a missionary, spreading his treats, and that, ladies and gentlemen, is basically where pancakes came from.
Happy Saint Pancakes Day.
