Completing The Lego Star Wars MTT
I did it! I finally did it!
Today, I started off where I left the build yesterday, and after a fairly grooling few hours, I completed the MTT.
Here it is after a handful of pages.
This build is tough, made slightly tougher due to the instructions.
For example, the instructions don't really show accurate colours when it comes to certain pieces. Too late did I realise that I actually used the wrong parts in places, which became an issue near the end - when it was too late to undo my mistakes.
With the turrets in place, it became more obvious what it was.
I love this about Lego sets.
The build is frustrating in some cases, and it feels like you're getting nowhere, until you reach a certain point and it's like you have a break through and can finally see it come to life.
Here it is complete.
It's a beast of a thing. It weighs a lot, it's sturdy, and it is a fairly imposing ship. The design of these ships, in general seem to be inspired by brutalist archetecture, which makes sense since they're the vehicles used by the baddies of the prequels.
All of that space does not go to waste though, as there are so many doors and areas within this ship to store the crazy amount of figures that comes with it.
Speaking of the figures, lets check them out to put this into perspective.
Here's the army assembled.
In total there are 20 droids and a droideka with this set, as well as multipe smaller ships, and they all fit nicely inside of this monstrocity.
I would have been over the moon with something like this when I was a kid. However, a set like this means you'd need a clone set of the same scale to accompany it. That's where the pain in the wallet would lay.
I always liked Lego when I was younger, but I never got anything on this scale. To be honest, back then, I don't think I could have managed something as complex as this build.
All in all, it was enjoyable, but the few hicups I had with mixing up pieces put a slight dampenor on the process.
In total, as well, there are about 6 or 7 missing pieces, but the pieces are fairly common, which I'm happy about.
