What is the key difference between investing and trading?

Both investing and trading aim to get a return on an investment, but trading does it over a much shorter period.

Yes, gains or losses aimed at the short-term based where you buy certain types of assets and sell them is called trading. Investment can be any type short or long term.

Trading is just a type of investing. There is no difference. Trading is just the act of trading one asset for another. That is all, doesn't matter what timeframe. I used to try to argue a difference when I first started, but realized it's a silly argument.
