RE: LeoThread 2024-10-11 03:26

You are viewing a single comment's thread:

I didn’t know PeakD was censoring INLEO links until it was recently brought to my attention

I have publicly called them out to stop this censorship

Highly recommend tagging them & alerting others to this censorship. They should fix it immediately

What the eff...
I don't like where this is going.
I see forks...

no. Why would anyone fork? This has nothing to do with the chain.
This is just frontends.

Not even close to the same thing

IDK its early in the morning. I am just a bit pissed about humanity. We could be so much better...

but can we ?
Humans have not changed in at least 5000 years.

The best way is to realize people will never agree on things or want to work together

It is best to find your community and work with that.

It’s an easy fix

INLEO doesn’t do this and I think it’s incredibly immoral

It’s up to the userbase of hive to speak up and tell them to stop censoring

It's immoral if you want to "grab" readers from other frontends. Those readers have chosen peakd.com for a reason and that's why they want to consume Hive related content. It's not up to the content creators to decide.

Do they do it with other UIs as well or just inleo? For example are ecency links hijacked and converted to peakd links? If that's the case I think I'm ok with it to each their own with their platform. If it's just one UI they are doing it to that's a issue for sure.

Not sure if they do it for all

But even if they do, how is that okay?

They’re stealing canonical authority to search engines

They’re also auto-converting and censoring user inputted text

Imagine if they one day decided they didn’t like the word “steem” or “Leo” or “Kamala Harris”

They could single-handledly censor and change those words inside of posts that user’s chose to have there

My belief is that user inputted text should not be changed from what the user chose to be there. They chose it for a reason

It's an issue in that sense for sure. But it's also up to them as the developer of the platform to run it how they want. It's then up to the user to use the front facing UI they want. Users should however be aware and educated on what's happening. At least that's my belief because it's always going to happen but being informed and making choices yourself is always going to win IMO. This would also go to the level of DHF funding in where people simply are not educated and just proxy their vote or vote because someone else told them to. Making the voting process rather wild and kind of dumb. It's great in theory but in human practice 90% of people are just not going to care and will go on with their day. I'm not part of that 90% but I realize a vast majority are.

That is a common practice. Ecency does the same thing and have been like this for a while.

It's about not disrupting the reader experience. If I'm logged into peakd and I suddenly get redirected to inleo that will be horrible experience. I'm not even logged in there.

You can start to think they might be scared of Inleo..

Innovation always kills competition that is trying to prevent and stop it.

Inleo is the future, PeakD is not.

Innovation will always spark fear in the incumbents

Oh no! Something must be done immediately

No, not really. Inleo should simply adopt the same approach so their readers can have the best possible experience

This is so Web2 ...Web3 is all about freedom and that's for both creators and readers. Just because a creator post on inleo does not mean that peakd readers should be forced to open links in inleo.

Content is on Hive and everyone should be free to read content how they like.

I have to disagree here after reading the comments, it's very annoying being sent to other frontends when consuming & curating. Especially since many of the others have bad ux when it comes to switching accounts or how long you remain logged in on them.
