The unexpected call:Pink October

A week ago my friend texted me on WhatsApp. I was contemplating wether to open the text or not because 😂 I was unable to make time for our girls date and the plan never left the group chat. I was unsure because if it’s another girls date I will definitely spoil it , I was occupied and had things to do .

But guess what it was a different matter not what I expected . She was inviting me to be a guest speaker on breast cancer awareness. I was so surprised because where is this coming from
I’m not a health student, I studied Applied Biology why would she rather come to me, I even decided to refer her to a student nurse. She insisted I should do it. I reluctantly agreed to do because she’s a good friend and I didn’t want to let her down after spoiling our girls date plan.
Initially I thought it was a bother and would add me more work since I have other things to do

But I realized it’s an opportunity in fact a beneficial one not only do I have to learn about breast cancer into detail but I would build some confidence and improve my speaking and interactive skills .It’s going to be virtual. This is going to be my first time being a guest speaker. Even though it’s something small. I’m still glad I’m am doing it .

I’m not the only one though we are going to be two guest speakers so the load is better
We have started preparing for it
I hope it goes as planned
I will be talking on breast cancer its types, signs and symptoms and my colleague would handle the the risk factors, incidence, myths and perceptions about breast cancer

Now here’s is the thing though every October we hear about breast cancer awareness and all but how many of us actually attach seriousness to it. I wont lie. I only knew how to check myself or do a physical examination on my self but I did not know risk factors Nor the group of individuals that are highly prone to it and breast cancer types etc

But i had learn into details about breast cancer. I am glad I’m not only learning but I will be educating others and share with them the little I have learnt.
