The greedy friend: an unforgettable childhood story

Sometimes the oldest stories are the ones that stick with you the longest. I remember this one from when I was small, we used to tell all the time and laughing like it was the funniest thing in the world. And honestly it's still kind off 😂. Especially when told by a funny person or someone with good sense of humour. I remember how eager we were to tell our friends new funny stories we heard from others. This story isn't like the popular fables with animal characters but just two normal human friends.

Let's get started.

So there are two friends let's call one Abu and the other Alasani. Abu was the type who never ever wanted to share. If he had a pesewa he would hide it. If he bought waakye, he would turn his back and eat, you get that type of people eh 😂 those with extreme greed.

One afternoon Abu decided to fry some yam. He brought out his frying pan, poured the oil, lit the fire right the in the compound and got to work. The yam was sizzling, the aroma was filling the air, and everything was going smoothly.

But just as he was placing the first fried slice onto a plate, guess who shows up, his friend Alasani. Abu was boiling inside, "why now? Why today? Can't a man just enjoy his yam in peace?" But outside he was faking a tight painful smile. He was already thinking, "this guy better not ask for any". But Alasani wasn't even hungry. He just came to chill and maybe gist a little. He sat down, not even eyeing the yam but in Abu's mind Alasani was there for the yam.

So Abu came up with a greedy foolish plan. He picked up the first piece of fried yam, looked at it, and said loudly, "Hmm... This one is bad!" And threw it not too far, in the compound. He picked the second one. "Ahh this one too? It's spoiled!" And tossed it.

One by one, he went through the whole batch of perfectly fine, crispy yam, throwing each one away while complaining loudly about how bad all were. Alasani just sat there watching, he was confused but remained quiet. Finally when every piece was lying in the dirt, Alasani stood up, Alright bro I'm about going. See you later. Abu almost smiled his plan had worked! As soon as Alasani leaves, he would just gather the yams and enjoy it in peace. But Alasani wasn't born yesterday, as he walked away, he stepped on the first picece of yam. "Bad yam" he said and crashed it. He stepped on the next, "bad yam" Smash. One by one he stomped every single yam piece into the dirt, and poor Abu he watched silently, heartbroken.

Non of the yams were bad, except Abu's character. And that day he learned a lesson he never forgot, Greed doesn't just cost you your share it can cost you everything.

The moral of the story? Don't be an Abu, share your yam 😂

this story don't just carry a moral but gives you just the right amount of a good laugh 😂
