Caught in the loop: when life feels like it's on repeat mode
About two months ago, a friend sent me a meme on Instagram captioned "Caught in the loop" . It was video of one of those generic fish from SpongeBob, the ones that always swarm The Krusty Krab for Krabby patties. This fish woke up every morning, got his way through traffic, worked his 9-5, came home to his wife slept and repeated the same cycle the next day. Nothing new, no surprises, just an endless loop of existence.
At that time I laughed. Damn this fish is stressed asf, I thought. It was funny how his life was literally on repeat mode. But then I paused. Is this fish me ?.
The loop I didn't sign up for
A couple of weeks or even months ago, I had a different vision for how things would. I thought I would have mastered some skills by now, writing more, creating more, and progressing more. I imagined a better version of myself that was further ahead and more polished. But life doesn't always unfold the way we sketch it in our heads. Instead, my days have been a steady rhythm: I wake, pray, do chores, got to work, eat, sleep and repeat. Though there's comfort in it, sometimes it kinda feels like I'm walking on a treadmill, moving but getting nowhere.
The unexpected wins
Here's the thing about loops sometimes, within the repetition, there are hidden upgrades and little glitches that bring unexpected joy. Maybe it's a random conversation that's shifts your perspective, and opportunity that comes out of nowhere, or a moment of peace you never saw coming. I may not have everything everything I thought I would, but at least I've gotten things I never even planned for. And that the funny thing about life, you don't always get what you want, but sometimes get what you need even if you didn't know you needed it
So am I stuck in the loop ?. Maybe. But maybe loops aren't always bad, maybe they're just seasons, phases where we're been prepared for the next level, even if it doesn't feel like it.
Or maybe, like that fish, I'm just here , doing my best, surviving the daily grind until the loop finally break and when it does?. Well, I will be ready
Until then I'll just keep moving.
