Walking the Central Valley Greenway in Burnaby, #hpud

The Central Valley Greenway is a 25km public bike & pedestrian route opened in June 27th, 2009, extending from Science world, Metro Vancouver to the New Westminster Quay. The segment of the route is level and varies from paved surface to gravel paved path.

I was in the area the other week having my car serviced so I went for a little walk along the Burnaby segment of the CVG trail west of Douglas road. I have mountain biked this route before but not its 25km entirety. In my mountain bike days, my usual destination along this part of the route is the Burnaby Lake Regional park and nature house. A great refuge for a local variety birds including a handful of magnificent birds of prey. A trove of blogging subjects for our #featheredfriends community.

However, it is rather far on foot from where I am. I go there to feed the birds, more importantly it is my place to go deep in thought, make the hard decisions, meditate on God’s creation, quiet time to shut out the world and favorite place to pray.
This place will have to do.

My Roommate’s Immuno-therapy wasn’t effective enough a treatment to deal with all the Cancers in her body. Uterine cancer (Sarcoma carcinoma) is a very aggressive form with patients averaging a 2 years survival, we are now at 19 months. While there had been some good results of those in her liver and lungs, one tumor that is located in the T-8/right rib junction, very close to her spinal cord has been very tough. The location was too dangerous to surgically remove the tumor and has became the point of excruciating pain that made her life difficult to bear.

This week she endured a fall that ended what little hope we had left. A fracture that was severe enough to permanently render her legs paralyzed. In the Intensive Care Unit, we talked and prayed as I held her hand when she decided to forego any Heroic actions to preserve her life.
I respected her decision.
My anxiety had turned to a full blown clinical depression so I have been struggling for the last few days. I could barely mange to put this post together. I can’t help but begin grieving for my best friend.

With my medical Leave of absence approved I will be spending as much time as possible with Deb, we’ll be reminisce all our happier times, arrange for Hospice care space, get her affairs in order, and do all the legal documentation.
With my apologies, I may be quiet from Hive over the next month or two.

We are financially prepared and I can't begin to emphasize strongly enough to have adequate life Insurance to cover the bills, an updated will, and an Enduring Power of Attorney.

I will covet your prayers my friends.

I can feel the pain while reading about your friend's situation.. She isn't just a friend to you now, but a family. She's lucky to have you..
Sending prayers.. This made me remember my father, who, until now, is still in the hospital.. Hayst..life is tough.. We should be tougher..

Admiring God's creation does help calms me, I know if I can learn to trust in his written word to heal my pain, there has to be a purpose.

O my God! This would be so painful. I can feel your pain for your friend as word are depicting the picture in my mind. I wish that she will recover soon. Only hope can give courage.

Thet are delicous if picked at the right time or combination of; green:bitter, bright red:sour, firm Darkred/black;light sweet, and soft Black:very sweet.

I'm so sorry to hear that, it's horrible! Sarcoma is a nasty one, and I hope she suffers as little as possible. We will all miss hearing from you and you'll be in our prayers. I'm glad you will get to spend quality time with her. If there's anything I can do don't hesitate to ask.

Oh Kerris… I am so so sorry. Thank you for sharing the love you have for your friend on hive all of this time. Thank you for the strength and care you have given her even as you also need strength and care to cope with the journey to her loss. Anticipatory grief is heart wrenching. There are never enough days for the people we love. Deb is so fortunate to have you with her. ❤️💔❤️

I may understand scripture, memorize it, recite it and trust in it. Yet, it is still a painful process to go through but I also understand that it is allowed to happen for a greater purpose. My faith is not as strong and firm as my roommate, but her faith has been a powerful example to me.

She said that her life and death will glorify Him in some beautiful way.

Reading this made my heart being comforted that if God will take away the breath of life He bestowed to your friend, for sure He will meet Jesus in the air when He comes back again.

Your friend has a greater connection and relationship to her creator.
