InLeo Trial Post; Bank of Canada’s public survey on the Digital Loonie

It’s time to give our InLeo front end another try, assuming the issues have been corrected since last November. My previous experience was literally a painful one as I had to constantly fight the Parkinson’s stiffness that is prevalent in my right arm and my range of motion limited. I found it difficult navigating and click accurately with the loss of over 50% of my fine motor skills let alone deal with all the work arounds to get to where I needed to be. Since then, PeakD is more Intuitive and ergonomically efficient for me.

“Black birds tend to like shiny things.” ~ The Bloody Raven.

After an invite to post on InLeo again from @thetimetravelerz’s comment
and @nomadsoul’s comment I promised to try. For the last week I felt apprehensive about posting and curating using this front end again. There is this unpleasant visceral feeling. My mind kept putting this trial off from memories of long tortuous searches for friends and posts I could not find and the endless scrolling leaving my right arm, hand and fingers very sore by the end of the evening. I tried. It wasn’t worth it for the little Leo I got. Will it be better this time?

On to the Financial Post article.

I finally got to dig into this November 29th, 2023 Financial post article by Nojoud Al Mallees of the Canadian Press stating that,

Vast majority of respondents don't trust the central bank to issue a secure digital currency.

The central bank released its findings Wednesday that show more than 80 per cent of respondents strongly opposed the Bank of Canada researching and building the capability to issue a digital dollar. The vast majority of respondents also said they do not trust the Bank of Canada to issue a secure digital currency.

The survey of respondents was voluntary, self-selected Implying that the participants were already familiar with Crypto currencies or having a stake in it in some form. Therefore the participant population may be skewed to stake holders in this asset class rather than a statistically random survey model. I’m sure the Prime minister will reject this result as not truly representative opinion of the broad public. Then again, does he really listen from the public? He sure loves it when Klaus whispers Justin Trudaeu's name..

The survey cites that Privacy as the largest concern of participants and the low level of trust in the institutions in protecting personal information.

Justin Trudeau’s blatant disregard over the rights of the Trucker protesters and their supporters with the freezing of Bank accounts under the poor application of the Emergencies Act laid bare his true nature using this ‘crisis’ as a pretext to also attack the Crypto market. The freezing of bank accounts have caused damage so repercussions will be coming in the form of legal suits. And the freezing of Crypto wallets … we can say there was nothing he could do about that, showing his glaring misunderstanding of Blockchain technology, except ideologically justification for throwing Binance under the legislative bus.

The Bank of Canada’s other CBDC named Project Jasper has been under development since 2020. A distributed Wholesale Payment System geared for international settlements. The ‘CBDC’ Retail Payment system which would be considered for public use is at a stage where they need to test the waters of public opinion before proceeding further.

Most Canadians and businesses currently have multiple payment and transaction solutions so adoption of CBDCs will be seen as not needed until something bad happens and hopefully there will enough time to us to warn the public at large of the dark side of CBDCs.

As I read the Reader’s comments of the articles discussed the fate of the Retail version of Canada’s digital Loonie CBDC is inextricably tied to the Truckers Protest. And the unreasonable over reaction of the Liberal government before the facts were established.

For now I celebrate with the Trucker’s Freedom Convoy for their victory but it is a small one that the bigger prize is Freedom of Speech for Canadians as there will be pieces of legislation designed to jail citizens even for Speaking well of the oil industry if not going against the official narrative.
But moving back to the Canadian retail digital loonie …

The article further states that the Bank of Canada says that the decision to create a digital Loonie is for Parliament to make. And “…If Canadians decide a digital dollar is necessary, our obligation is to be ready.” And I’m sure they have it ready to go come a reset.

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre has vehemently opposed the creation of a digital currency, proposing last year to ban the Bank of Canada from creating one. At the same time, he has previously promoted the use of cryptocurrencies and suggested it offered Canadians a way to opt out of inflation, though he has shifted away from the topic more recently.

Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre, I’ll have to keep an eye on him, I’m not convinced that he is not totally on the anti-CBDC side. And may just be another Actor following the Drama Teacher.

With the big L slapped on Justin Trudeau’s Liberal Government, they are filing an appeal to the recent court’s decision. Want do you think he will do next to the Canadian Crypto Market?

a) Continue to bash Cryptos as a tool only used by Terrorists.

b) Continue to be Klaus Schwab’s pet.

c) Claim that Digital Loonie critics are ‘Misinformed’ and need DEI re-education then go ahead with his plan.

d) Claim the Digital Loonie will save us from Climate change.

e) All of the above.

f) Other, please comment below.

Now for my #silvergoldstackers friends...

I took a chance at picking up this Westminster Mint 5 Troy oz. silver bar. My question is would this be considered a vintage bar?

Comparison of a Sunshine Mint Bar, Left and Westminster Mint Bar, right
Obverse; Westminster Mint WM Logo
5 TROY OUNCES, .999 FINE SILVER, MADE IN THE U.S.A.
66mm x 36mm x 7mm
5 Troy oz, 0.999 Fine silver
Low Serial number. 000269

There is a Westminster Mint website featuring a slightly different bar sporting an updated logo and a Lion/Leo figure on the Reverse on both the 5 Troy oz. bar and 5 Troy oz bars. Unfortunately, the website doesn't have an archived page of their old products. And a search revealed one YouTube video and one Bar posted on Ebay.

Reverse;
Edge; Plain
Texture print; WESTMINSTER MINT

I was advised that original the plastic film around old bars should be left alone as they tend to get a better price. But this beat up leaky plastic is bugging me and I want to take it off. It's hard to get good photos with it in the way!

Close up of the WM logo.
The next time you see this bar, It may be plastic free.

The #piratesunday tag is the scurvy scheme of Captain @stokjockey for #silvergoldstackers pirates to proudly showcase their shiny booty and plunder for all to see. Landlubbers arrrh… welcomed to participate and be a Pirate at heart so open yer treasure chests an’ show us what booty yea got!

Dear @kerrislravenhill

I am delighted to see that you have restarted posting via inleo.

Despite your medical condition you took the time and put in the efforts to give the platform another chance.

We welcome you back and hope your engagements here are productive and profitable.

While you were away there has been a lot of development that has happened and since you are posting via inleo there is the opportunity to earn some extra leo and hive.

I wish you good health.

I will try and adapt over the next few weeks. Even if have to type one finger with just my left hand and use my mouse with both my hands. It's slow going but it's the best I can do.

Question; Will InLeo work on Firefox now? or Must I remain on the Brave browser?

Hello, my friend. I hope you are well. I know next to nothing about Canadian politics, but if I had to take a chance I would choose b). By the way, congratulations on that beautiful silver bar. Enjoy it

b) Not a bad choice. There is an internet rumor speculating that Justin is the offspring of Fidel. And that could make us closer neighbours than imagined and explains why I like Cuban silver coins.

The silver bar looks rather ordinary but I think it qualifies as vintage collectable. There's not a whole lot of information on this bar and very few bars like this are seen on my Internet searches.

Hi @kerrislravenhill
Great to see you giving Inleo a try and hope that this time your experience is great. The team has been working to improve many things and to give our users a fantastic experience. Please share your experience as this will help us to make Inleo even better.

Wishing you good health and have a great day

My son is working on a few interface ideals like a modified keyboard and a trackball device instead of a mouse. Looking also into a better dictating software package. The Windows version sucks.

I don't think my health will improve much, it's gone downhill since the Covid pandemic and I never caught Covid either. That points to a possible Vaccine caused injury.

Thanks for good wishes @alokkumar121

Long term illnesses are not fun what so ever. I have had Anlylosing Spondylitus since I was 12 and it took six years to be diagnosed. So I get the physical limitations.

I hope you had more success using the InLEO front end this time. I know they are working hard to improve things.

Whenever I see Westminster I think of London and the UK. I

nteresting about the plastic, I guess if you remove it then it is not intact anymore and the price drops?

A.Spondylitis is a young adult form of arthritis stifening the lower back and Sacro-iliac region of the hiips. It eventually stops and you lose some range of motion, but I understand it hurts quite a lot keeping you from walking or even getting out of bed. You probably took plenty of Anti-inflamartory medication. I worked as a Nurse.

New Westminster is also a City in British Columbia, Canada not very far from where I live. It is named after Westminster of the UK. Capitol of that colony in 1871.

Not by a lot, some collectors prefer it in it's original sealed yet compromised packaging. I feel it is a hinderence more than a benefit.

Thanks for the visit @tengolotodo.leo

It eventually stops and you lose some range of motion

Unfortunately that is nonsense pedalled by non sufferers. I have had mine for close to 50 years and it gets worse, they don't talk about the eye issues and other side effects. My mobilty keeps getting less, my spine curvature keeps getting worse, but yes they say only a young adult disease. Life is life :)

I'm hoping that the Article navigation is much more efficient in layout and intuitively structured such I need not going from A to B without having to got through B, C, D and E just to get to B. Finding certain posts and Hiver should not take too many actions and steps to achieve. I waste too much energy, time and discomfort searching than any curating or enjoying content.

Thanks for that mental strength to give Inleo frontend another try. I really believe it is worth it as the team has really tried to make the interface better and more stable.

I admire your inner strength the nature of your illness. Making movements with the hand and arms are challenging. Stories like yours inspire us and everyone that may be facing other forms of challenge or difficulty.

CDBCs continue to fail no matter thr country or government that tries it. It is an attempt to continue the centralized financial system we see all over the world. In my country, the crypto commumity broadly kicked against it and it is yet to have a chance. Crypto is the future of money, but not CDBCs.

My condition has gotten worse over the last 24 months and now I am currently on medical leave from my Nursing job. I don't think I can return to it, I've injured my body, limbs, and back far too many times over the twenty years plus of Nursing work and I find that I could no longer keep up the pace. I have to leave it to a younger gal. Thank God I have a Disability benefit.

In the end, the people should have the right and freedom to choose their own currency to do their business.

The Financial incompetence of the average Canadian is wonder to behold with consumer debt in the starosphere, $2.32 Trillion +150% of disposable income, along with a financially incompetent government. Doing some research on our Bank of Canada govenor Tiff Maklem has an impressive academic career but we don't know anything of his working career. I bet he worked under Goldman Sachs, as most of our Govenors had worked for a Goldman Sachs payroll in the past.

Some of my notes so far.

Few minor markup quirks. Can’t avoid spaces between short sentences, like a multiple choice list. Reminding me that InLeo is meant for short form and not optimized for long form, nothing fancy. Most Leofinance writers often post a picture and a graph or two.

Unable to Schedule Post, I finished this post about 12:30 am trying to schedule for 7 am PST. Saved a Word document version of the post, just in case it didn’t save the post. Got up 9:00 am to manually post.

Got a report that pictures do not show. I know he uses a phone app. Even though I make the effort to optimized picture sizes down to 1280 x 960 to be memory friendly without significant loss of detail.

It works.
Curating to come later after a few shots of Rum to steel up my nerves.

Good money drives out bad. I have never understood the logic of Canada, a country with tons of natural resources, strategically having our currency worth less, when clearly we have the stuff America needs. I want Silver dimes and a Loonie that is worth MORE than a Dollar.

The Canadian dollar used to be worth more than the USD way back in the Pierre Trudeau years and it was the world that wanted our commodities, not just America. Canadians owned the companies rather than off-shore corporations under the Foreign Investment Review Agency (FIRA). Not today. It may yet happen when the USD gets knocked off her reserve status perch. We will pay the price to get it out of the ground though.
