BIRD DAY .. ))) This day is for the BIRDS
Got a lot of pictures and material out of my one visit to Indian Island Co. Park ))) Here is one more that's for the BIRDS .....
Last year I asked the people at the park if they had any nesting Osprey.. They did and told me where to look.. I had taken the paths to find them but was unable to locate the nest.
When I was boating in these waters years back there were few Osprey.. Since then many nesting pairs abound ... The best way to see and enjoy them would be by boat...
Anyway when I took my walk heading west on the beach I was going in the direction where I was told the nest was... https://peakd.com/hive-127788/@manorvillemike/indian-islandSO LETS CONTINUE THE MARSH WALK ..... ))))) LETS GO
Checking the skies, I was not disappointed ...
Spotted a pair flying near where the nest should be...
I got a nice clear view view of some branches ...
Meandering down the beach a bit more, to get a closer look ...
My first look at the nest ...
I didn't want to disturb them, so moved slow and easy ...
Another excellent shot of some branches ...
Best shot I could get .. They spook easily, so I backed off to get what I could get ...
Overcast skies preventing the camera from doing them justice ..but the photos do show the grace and magnificence of the 5 1/2 foot / 1.7 m .. wingspan Bird ...
You can just see the birds head .. Nests are used by the same pair of birds every year..Each season they add to the nest material so the nests can get pretty big ... They winter in South and Central America, then come back here to mate and raise their young.. usually having 1 to 3 chicks..
Time to leave, my visit is over, one last look around ...
Pointing out an Osprey ...
