When I was quite young, my mom had a restaurant, and every day I came back from school, I would always go to the shop to stay with her, so I could help her sell, when she was out of the shop or decided to go back home and do some chores and I guess that was where my interest and passion for cooking and baking started.

That was how I grew interested in baking, and since I knew I would not be given the chance to go to catering school, I put my phone and time to good use, I started watching on YouTube, and Instagram how to make and bake different types of confectionery without the knowledge of my parents.

Luckily, I got admission that period and I had to move to another state because of schooling, so, I invested more of my time in learning and practicing my baking skills in my free periods. When a few of my friends had a taste of my baked snacked one day, they urged me to start baking, so I could sell it in school and use it as a pastime since I was always at home, and never loved going out.

I started the first day, in a small quantity and it got sold out, and that was how I began my confectionery journey. Always watching one or two things on the Internet and putting them into practice, so I can have a better and unique result from those buying from me and that was how I started making money as a student even though my parents never failed to send me money, it became an added advantage.

I decided to dive into learning how to bake and cook most intercontinental and continental dishes from the internet too and I started cooking for a few people around and also for a few of my colleagues and I get paid. Attached myself to a caterer and that was how started cooking for occasions. I usually did get calls to render my services and I was happy and proud of myself and what I was doing, to think I learned the online.

My dream was and is so big that I started saving money I got from selling my snacks, and outside jobs to get a few confectionery equipment that could make my job a little easier and less stressful. I got my sealer for sealing my peanut, chinchin, or cake nylon, which makes my work easier and neat, I also got a better dispenser, to help make my dough look neat and presentable and I got a cutter. I almost bought an oven, the one that comes with a cooker but unfortunately, I didn't have enough money to complete the amount they were selling at a discount, now, when I think back I wish I had gotten it and maybe paid on installment.

I have my different sizes of pans stacked for us whenever I wish to use them even though I no longer bake as often as I wish or used to because of my current job and because I have a lot on my plate regardless, I will never forget that baking which I learned online was my first source of income.

I am not just a baker, I am a good cook and a better cook as a result of what I learned online, now, I mostly do my baking or cooking when any of my family members or relatives needs my help cooking on their occasion or needs some baked stuff for their occasion too.

I miss baking, but for now, I am concentrating on my career and some other things, maybe when I am stable enough, I can go back to baking but for now, I am doing something else, and that makes me very busy.
