Hello everyone it has been a while since I stopped by here, sorry just had a lot going on offline and not be able to be consistent with this Also because I most times do not know what to write, it's been difficult putting up a post out here but today stumbled on a post about the daily #januaryinleo prompt and I thought to myself, "This would be a good idea to start using the daily prompt so I could be consistent here and also engage here too, so before I dive into my first inleo prompt, I would love to say a happy new year to you all.

I would be writing on the prompt that says, "What was your best experience during the holiday?"

So, as a teacher, the holiday started in November for us, but because I do home-schooling and also into my fashion design job, I didn't get to enjoy the holiday, didn't have the privilege to do that and we all know that here in Nigeria, this festive holiday period is always a hectic period for those skill laborers especially the tailors/fashion designers and the hairstylist.

Well, since I am still under my boss, still under apprenticeship, even on my rest days, I am most likely to be called upon by my boss to come help with other works that needs extra hands and mist tomes, we stay into the night for days without having a good sleep because of the nature of our work. It is what it is, and not to forget that I too have customers who give me work, so combining those and the home lessons I usually do have which take place every day of the week is a lot of work, the reason why I didn't get to enjoy much of the holiday as I would have loved to.

Notwithstanding, my holiday started a few days after Christmas day, I decided to go back home, to see my family and have a little rest before school resumption which was a few days after the new year, so I only got to enjoy the holiday for just a week or less by my calculation but I would still day spending those few days with my family and at the comfort of our homes surrounded by them was an amazing one.

The best experience during the holiday was watching my family (Mom, dad, sister, and brothers) with excited faces when I presented them with my Christmas gift, they never expected that I would be doing that and the excitement from their faces made my day when they all saw my gift. It was a surprise gift and their expressions were worth the sacrifice, stress, and expenses.

Well, a few months into the festive season, I had a plan to make them dresses since I sew and get a few shoes and bags for the ladies and a belt and shoes for the men to complement their clothes, so all I did was buy the preferred material for each of them, my mom and my sister had the same material and the three males had the same materials, and thankfully, the last time I went for holidays, I got their measurement and all I had to do was do some calculations with their recent pictures and added a little number to what I already had while I kept some allowances in their clothes in case there was going to be a need for it.

When I presented the gifts to all of them the night before New Year's Day, they were more than happy and even wore them for the New Year service that morning and the most exciting of them was that they wore the clothes without an ish, especially that of my dad because I didn't or couldn't get a recent picture of him, we all know how our aged parents especially the men can be, they don't like to take pictures (our African fathers).

It honestly felt so good and I would say that was the best experience during the holiday for me even though it was a period I got to rest, sleep more, and eat without having to cook what I needed to eat by myself, I was free as air for the period and I could tag it as my best holiday experience but watching my families excited faces and watching them try on the clothes I made for them beats all that.

While I was with my family for a few days, I got to watch the cultural festive display of different masquerades around my vicinity, watch the matches that usually take place yearly, and also meet and spend time with most of my old friends who traveled down to spend the holiday with their families and when I was returning, I came back with a lot of goodies, I mean what is traveling without coming back with goodies, let's not forget that economy is taking a toll on us as the day goes by.

Thank you for reading and happy New Year to you all once again.

This is my answer to the Day 4 #januaryinleo prompt.
