I am ME
The community or environment I live is a place where everyone knows everyone, either through someone or through one community group or the other. I think I am just two years there but anyone who does not know me would think that due to the relationship I have with many around the vicinity, I have stayed there for years.
Due to the kind of person I am and my lifestyle, I easily fit into everything and everyone around me, good thing I don't look like age, and even when I am in the midst of those who are younger than me, there can not single me out as an older person because I don't look it.
A few months back, this year precisely on a Saturday, I was on the field, since I play football and in the football team in the vicinity due to my diligence and role, I had an encounter with the opposite team and the person I had an encounter kind of live in my compound, he said while in the heat of the moment, "Who do you think you are, I am not your mate".
I was shocked, I mean, I get he is taller, and even bigger than I am but except that, I could tell from his appearance and seeing his younger ones who live with him that I am quite older than him, he should be in his late twenties or early thirties and I am already in my late thirties but because I don't look my age, he felt he was. I mean, this is someone who is in his final year at university doing his BSC program, while I am in my final year in the university running my MSC program and also a teacher been done with my BSC since year 2015.
When I got back home and explained the ordeal to a friend of mine who was around, he couldn't help but laugh at how the boy was so fast to tell me he was not my mate, just because of my lanky appearance and how I tend to behave around my vicinity.
The funny thing regardless of how they see me, I can not help but be the way I am, and I love the way I am. My friend complains about my carefree attitude, and how I live my life, and I get it, but that is me and I can not help it. What makes me, me is that I am ME and can fit in wherever I find myself as long as it aligns with ME.
