The city once shined, full of light,
But now it cries deep in the night.
Nigeria is burning! Houses are falling,
People run everywhere because nowhere is save, children call for help but no one seems answer

The wicked come with guns and fire,
Spreading pain, building fear higher.
No food to eat, no place to stay,
People suffer every day.

Leaders sit on golden chairs,
But do not help, they do not care.
They take the money, hide it fast,
Leaving hunger that will last.

Heroes come, but not to save,
They bring more trouble, dig more graves.
Fighting wars that have no end,
Hurting those they should defend.

Oh Lord, we kneel and cry to You,
Please make our city bright and new.

Let peace and love fill every street of my country Nigeria,

Let hope and joy return so sweet like before
