There's nothing admirable about these fancy-named Phobias.
There are several stories, both fictional and non-fictional ones, that highlight "fear" as one of the things that characterises us as humans. The capability of being scared of something or someone is always highlighted as an ideal element that defines us.
Even the folks who we see as fearless have things they are scared of and the weight of what we fear as humans vary. Some people are scared of ants. Some are scared of getting trapped in an elevator. Some are scared of drowning. Others are scared of being in dark places. When you casually take a look at the list of phobias people have, you will even come across ones that will make you laugh hysterically.
I know someone who's scared of peanuts. She doesn't even like to see it anywhere. Imagine how she will react when she spots it in a snack. When I first knew her, I thought she was making it up. Like, why are you scared of a harmless peanut? Haha. I remember asking that out of my naivety.
Right now, even when I'm snacking with her, I'm always the first to cross-check the menu and be sure that anything that has a slight resemblance to peanut isn't on the list.
Of course, I also have things that I'm scared of. Sit tight as I highlight a few of those things;
1. Fear of Being Broke.
I just did a quick research and noticed that this is classified as Peniaphobia, the fear of having no money. It surprisingly has a cool and fancy name even though there's nothing fancy about having to deal with this sort of phobia. It gets even worse when you are someone like myself who doesn't shy away from taking on responsibilities.
I'm not sure when this became a phobia for me. I know that I spent most part of my transition from childhood to teenage life and now to adulthood without having a lot of financial stability. The financial position of my family wasn't the type that allowed any of us to mess around with money. We didn't even have enough to take care of things. So, when I lived in a boarding school during my high school years, I had a lot of financial struggles.
That was also the case when I was at University. I struggled financially and this is even though my parents were making their best effort to support me. I will always be grateful for that support. The moment I was ending my University education, I started to work towards becoming more financially independent and I'm so grateful to God about the outcome of that decision.
Right now, even when I know I will be spending a whole day indoors, I still try my best to have some cash at hand, some money in the bank, and some emergency funds stored in crypto. I know that even when I don't need money, I may get a call for financial support from family and I always like to be able to give that support within a few minutes of getting off the call.
2. Fear of Being a Debtor.
Seems like all my phobias are related to finance. Haha. I couldn't find a fancy name for this particular one. I guess there's really nothing fancy about being indebted to someone else or to an organization. In case you don't know, some people are already caught in the endless cycle of being a Debtor. And, a lot of those people are still searching for some other person, lending institution, or a loan app that will lend them money.
That just can't be me. Being in the debt book of anyone gives me the peeves and I've been trying my best to not be indebted to anyone. That has been my lifestyle since years ago and I'm glad that I've been debt-free for as long as I can remember.
I know that some catastrophic situations can force people to face their fears and do things they never want to do. However, these fears I have are the ones I would never want to face. I don't want to imagine myself living as a brokie and I also don't want to be in a situation where I would depend on acquiring debt to do anything.
Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop or Comma.

🤣🤣🤣 pardon me o but I fell down from my chair while laughing.
I never knew there was a fancy name for fear of being broke 🤣🤣🤣
I really feel you here, some of us have had it rough while growing up and so we have vowed never to remain in that state and to do better.
Being in debt is not wise or cool but circumstances have forced so many to be in that corner. I really feel for them but what can we do than the little we can.
Good to know that you don't shy away from responsibilities. This will cause your financial borders to expand greatly and soon you will attain the financial steady heights you desire. I see great things for you sir and I know that my prayers combined with those who are in your debt will get answered soon 🤗
Cheers to your upgrade boss.
Madam Becky. It's not easy to do. The fanciness of that name is boiling my temper. Haha. I'm already scared of being broke. After everything I've seen in life, even when I'm going downstairs, I like to hold my phone so I can access my mobile Bank Apps or I hold my wallet for quick cash transactions.
The one about being a Debtor is something I've worked hard to avoid and I'm glad about the result of that hard work.
Thanks so much for your prayers. I'm genuinely excited to hear this from you. God will bless all of us. His grace will always shine brightly upon you and your family.
God Bless You, Becky.
Amen, thanks a lot @kenechukwu97
I didn't imagine I had so many fears, reading you I took a walk through life and saw them there crouched and ready to attack me.
Greetings @kenechukwu97
Life can be really humbling when it comes to the things we fear. We may not even be aware we have such fears until we come face to face with situations that make it obvious to us.
Hehe, you got me here man
Really bro, the yesteryears were not easy coping with brokenness and I never want that to happen again in my life.
Omo to be a debtor is like a disease. You can't comfortably talk to your debtor until the debt is paid..
May God assist us
Exactly. After dealing with the experience of being broke with no hope of growing financially, I just wouldn't want to have that experience again. The one about being a Debtor is already a No-no for me.
Brokeness is the highest kind of fever 😅.
Such a fancy name for something so painful😂.
I've always hated being in debt. Imagine someone talking to you anyhow just coz you owe them money. And the worst part about it is that you can't even talk back coz youre indebted to them
#dreemport
Yes oooo. The name is too tush for something so disturbing. Being broke is enough to sink someone into depression. Nothing is appealing about being broke.
Same with debt. I hear of people being chased around by loan Apps and loan sharks. I'm so glad that I'm not in anyone's debt book at the moment
Fr😂😂,it's more than enough.
Like Its crazy to be in debt
These two phobias relate to me as well. I can't even imagine being in a situation where I don't have a penny to sort out my needs. Nor do I wish to owe anyone a kobo. It's either I buy it with my money or leave it.

It's very understandable oooo. These sort of finance related Phobias are the ones that hits us hard and it's even worse in a country like ours. We just have to keep doing our best to improve our finances while making sure that we won't unnecessarily incure debt.
Fear of peanuts 😂 that person has no problem at all
Seriously, you got me. Is as though you saw through me and mentioned all my fears😂
These phobias are legit oooo. The more you know of all the phobias in this world, the more you will see that humans are truly hard to understand. Haha.
Okay, now I have a name for being broke. 😂😂😂
I also feel the same way. I am always so scared when I have nothing on me. I can't even imagine!
#dreemerforlife
Hahah... That name for being broke is actually a really fancy one. Lol. It's fancy although the feeling of being broke isn't fancy at all 😂
😂😂😂😂
Phobias sure are real and I have been jerked awake countless times thanks to one of the phobias I have. It was so bad I could hardly sleep because that fear clouded my dreams too. Fear of scorpions.
Phobias definitely stems from traumas or past experiences of something. Why be afraid of something when you have never experienced it? I understand where you’re coming from in terms of fears of things happening. And trust me, many individuals have fears related to finance
Dreemport
Scorpions and all these reptiles deserve to be feared. These are scary creatures and the way they harm folks is usually within the twinkle of an eye. That's why I don't hesitate to get rid of any reptile whenever I spot them in my environment. I don't even mess around with those.
Phobias are real ooo. We have all these sort of phobias that face folks each day and the notion of having to come face-to-face with one's greatest phobia is never really appealing in reality.
